    Safety Cover Cost

My pool is fairly similar to yours, maybe slightly larger, and I am in shock at the price you were quoted. I have to replace mine as well and that is double what I was expecting. Hope someone can chime in.

    Diagnosing Pentair Easy Touch issue

I also discovered the source of the breaker tripping, after a long troubleshooting exercise. Something was growing inside the pump wiring compartment that shorted the connection. Plant or insect, I could not actually distinguish after arcing across it through a week of troubleshooting. Even...

    Diagnosing Pentair Easy Touch issue

Update: I replaced the relay on the pump circuit with an unused relay, and all is well. I will have to get a replacement relay under warranty. Does this happen often? Anyone else lose relays? on their Pentair systems?

    Diagnosing Pentair Easy Touch issue

Something caused the breaker in my main panel that goes to my pool subpanel to trip (unknown), and after resetting the breakers, my pump runs all the time and the intellichlor attached to that circuit is always recieveing power. I ran diagnostics and it only came up with an LED error, which is...

Installing Pentair Load Center for Easy Touch

I managed to get the ground to fit without modification. Barely. All appears to be up and running, just in time for a trip away. Looking forward to seeing some chlorine left in the pool when I return! Anyone know how the tiny breakers in the corner of the easy touch panel work? Says there...

Installing Pentair Load Center for Easy Touch

Bleh, as it turns out my ground wire from the main panel is 2 inches short. Options: 1. Pull 40 feet of 10 gauge stranded for the extra 2 inches 2. Cut the conduit shorter without cutting wires 3. splice 2 more inches of wire in 4. move the ground bar in the box Option 4 seems safest to me...

Installing Pentair Load Center for Easy Touch

While that makes sense, it seems odd that the manual says in multiple places to wire to the pump relay.

Installing Pentair Load Center for Easy Touch

your SWG is always powered? direct wired to the breaker without using a relay? Does the easy touch turn it on and off via the comm line, or not at all?

Installing Pentair Load Center for Easy Touch

Thanks for the pictures, too, by the way. I was also trying to figure out how to run the high voltage in the panel since there is no raceway or easy way to hold them in place. You solved with string!

Installing Pentair Load Center for Easy Touch

I hadn't considered using more amps in the panel than I fed it. You have 30 amps going in but 75 amps worth of local breakers?

Installing Pentair Load Center for Easy Touch

Oh, and both the system power supply and SWG power supply can be rewired to 120 or 240. Inexplicably, the manual says they start out with one on 120 and one on 240, so one of them always has to be rewired.

Installing Pentair Load Center for Easy Touch

I am planning for an Easy Touch install and am looking for wiring advice from someone familiar with installation. From the manual: ( http://www.pentairpool.com/pdfs/LoadCenterIG.pdf ) "The EasyTouch and IntelliTouch automation control circuit board requires 120 VAC, 3A power to operate the...

How fast does TA drop and pH raise?

I am trying to both lower TA and raise borates. I am switching to salt this year and never readded borax after the last 2 drain/refills for pool closings. TA is around 100-110, and Borates about 15. I have been trying to do the TA first with acid and aeration as Pool school encourages, but it...

    swg cost vs. running BBB

Also, salt is much cheaper than that. Make sure you measure before adding any because ther emay be salt in your source water and bleach adds salt too over time. $5 for 40 pounds at either of the big box hardware stores. I'd be surprised if you need more than $50 worth.
