    I think the sand is from one of the pipes going to the returns underground. It seems I might be losing a small amount of water as well

    It might be you have a leak underground and its pulling in the sand around the pool

    I have the same dirt or sand in the bottom of my pool as well.... Changed laterals, new sand... Dirt still on bottom... Used robot to clean and have same dirt in my robot... Looks nothing like the filter sand. Could an underground pipe be broke and pull and in?

    The material in the filter is nephaline syenite which they sell here in Canada at pool stores... It's not looking like this in the bottom of the pool... I'm stumped

    Hi, Thanks. It actually seems like dirt or the sand from the ground... I'm worried an underground pipe is cracked and sucking surrounding dirt in.... Is that possible? It's not the same material I think that's in my filter

    Update I put filter to recirculate which should bypass filter but I'm still getting extremely fine grit type sand/dirt and worms and stuff on the bottom every morning... I'm totally confused... Could I have a crack in an underground pipe?

    So I'm still getting sand in pool.... Should I set filter to re circulate for a couple of days to see what happens? If there was a cracked pipe could it be pulling in sand/dirt? Thanks

    Hayward Gas Heater H Series "smell" ??

    Bringing this up from the dead...i have the same unit and also notice a smell after igniting.... I'm not sure if it's normal or not... Didn't smell like natural gas which is a rotten egg smell

    Costco is great here as well but you need to have bought the unit or previous owner would have to return....receipt not always required but they can check to see if you bought it based on your membership

    My skimmer weir was broken and not letting in water causing the same thing... Took ages for me to figure it out

    So the sand is back...3 hours after vacuuming there are sand deposits again.... Arghhhhhhhh

    Ok. Will do. Thanks! I filled it with the nepheline syenite in the amount it stated for silica sand.

    So I fixed the pump issue. I backwashed and a lot of sand was in the clear glass jar that is supposed to be clear.... Is this indicative of something?
