    2018 Bleach Prices

I went to 2 different WalMart's looking for the old standard Bleach, and didn't realize they actually HAVE discontinued the 8.25% bottles. One employee said a new shipment was coming in the next day, so I sent hubby to grab them. The pool is turning green, and while I was out, he added 15...

    Iron Scale Stains

Unfortunately right now I can't, but prior to doing the test yesterday, we had everything set to correct balance per Jack's Magic Kit. I'm thinking the stains came from improper and excessive shocking last year, before I took over and did a complete and thorough cleaning and months of slamming...

    Iron Scale Stains

Well, after cleaning up all the algae all summer last year, going through hundreds of $$ of bleach, we saw the vinyl was pretty much covered in gray/green stains. I've stayed on top of tall the chemicals, and then waited until this Spring and just did the Jack's Magic Stain Identifier. It turns...

Green pool, I'm losing faith in the fight!!

I just did a new test using half tap water and half pool water, then doubled it. The reading is now 160 and according to the PC, I need to drain 69% of the pool. Quite a lot for a 44,000 gallon pool. My questions are, though: a) Since we have to also do a stain test, would it be better to wait...

Green pool, I'm losing faith in the fight!!

Hi everyone! Time to open the pool - although we don't cover it in the winter, just keep the pump going. Here are the current levels. Chlorine 0 pH 7.2 CYA over 100 Alkalinity 70 ppm It was suggested to slam the pool with 15 gallons of 8.25% 121 jugs of bleach. Going to WalMart to re-stock...

    Stains

Swampwoman has been a great help and I wanted to, and it sounded like it might have helped figure it out, but after spending hundreds of $$ on bleach alone over the course of a month, I couldn't bring myself to buy anything else at this time without knowing for a fact that it would actually fix...

    Stains

Just did another test - FC - 10 pH - 8+ (added 2 drops to get it to normal) Alk - 90ppm CYA - 100 Seems like everything's a little off, although the water is clear.

    Stains

There's another photo in my previous thread here, and the background on all the slamming I've done this summer - Green pool, I'm losing faith in the fight!! - Page 20. What I'm gathering is that the stains were a result of chlorine pucks and too much shocking by the previous caretaker. There is...

Green pool, I'm losing faith in the fight!!

With the pump off I can see the grate on the drain. Ready to metal test? The pool is actually bluer than these photos show, but you can definitely see the stains vs. the blue portion of the floor. Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk

Green pool, I'm losing faith in the fight!!

Thank you. The stains are new this year. I'm still slamming at 12, and it's maintaining at that level but not quite clear yet. I could see the drain, though, for the first time yesterday. We have metal ladders, and I'm not sure if this was enough to do anything, but a plastic bucket with a...
