    Zodiac MX6: the new MX8?

Just noticed Zodiac now have an MX6 that is apparently smaller then the 8 (but more expensive?!!) I'd imagine it is just the next generation, perhaps an improvement over the 8? I've got a few questions since I'm looking at getting an MX8, maybe this is what I should be looking at? Or has this...

Suction side air leak nightmare !!!

Probably not your problem, but I had a suction side leak caused by a very bad pipe connection at the skimmer itself, underground. It had been there for some time and the leak was intermittent, since the void it had formed would fill with water, then when the pump started it slowly sucked the...

New Pool Build - Trouble Struck! Please help 2.1.14

It looks to me like the columns are both equal distance from the conduit in the centre, the bench is just not long enough on the right (looking at the picture) side. I'd imagine they could take a bit off the left side, chip the right side back to reo and shoot a bit more onto it with more...

    Using a lot of acid...

I thought it could be the case. I just got a 20L drum so it should keep me going for a few weeks at least!

    Product to patch plaster

No-one? Well, I need to answer my own question then! I tried several products, and the one I used the most of is simply a fine, acrylic modified render. It is readily available (Bunnings here in Aus) and easy to mix and apply. It sticks like the proverbial to a blanket, is easy to finish and...

    Using a lot of acid...

I replastered my pool with Sider Crete about 6 weeks ago and expected that as it is a cement based product, there would be a higher than usual acid demand for the first few weeks. This was certainly true and about 27L later it is still requiring more than I would have thought. I am testing at...

How good is a Zodiac Tri? Let's find out!

Yep. First test was for pH and I added acid straight away. It's now around 7.5.

How good is a Zodiac Tri? Let's find out!

*UPDATE* Just got back from a week away, filter running 6hrs a day and Zodiac Tri at 40%, FC was at 3.5 when I left, and was 2.5 on return, with the pool at 30degrees C. Everything else in balance except pH, which was over 8.2. I've upped the run time to 7 hrs, and output to 50% to see how it...

    sunken island drainage

You'd definitely want a floor pit with plenty of capacity in there, but it could drain to any point as long as the lowest point is lower than the floor level in the set-down.

What do/would you guys use for plaster cracks?

Yeah, plaster will crack when dried out, but usually only hairline. That looks like movement to me, although perhaps it swells a bit when wet and closes. There are products around, one that is handy here in Australia is a kneadable epoxy putty called "Knead-it". You just pull it out of the...

How good is a Zodiac Tri? Let's find out!

Water is clear, not crystal as it has been. The numbers look good now, FC had fallen to 0 from 3 in a few days, and I added liquid Chlorine tonight. The FC was at 0 for a while, plus had swimmers in between (without my prior knowledge!). The fact there are CC's showing makes me think there...

How good is a Zodiac Tri? Let's find out!

Thanks, Jeff. After I posted, I thought to myself if the thing is making chlorine, it's going somewhere, if the level was 0 to start (had dropped from 3 two days ago), then there's a chance there could be CC's present. I dosed some liquid Cl straight after the last post, and just tested it, Cl...

How good is a Zodiac Tri? Let's find out!

I've finally gotten around to installing and starting the SWG, added 125kg of salt yesterday. Straight away it tells me low salt, and according to Pool Math, they're right. I added another 50kg which brings it to a bit over 4000 as per spec. So on again this afternoon and I'm not sure if I'm...

assistance needed with cutting of pool pipe

Turns out Aussie class 12 is the same as your sch40. Class 12 refers to 1200kpa pressure rating. When you get the piece out, you can certainly see the bond is better at the end, but none the less it can still be removed. As you said, though, getting the heat to the right place in situ would be...

assistance needed with cutting of pool pipe

I don't know what sch40 means, here we have class 9 and class 12 pressure pipe, typically 9 is used for irrigation, pools or anything running pump level pressures whereas class 12 is for mains water supply pressure. That trick works well on 9 or 12, and only takes a few seconds. Handy if you...
