    CC keeps rising

For future reference (and for my friend up the street who is about to start this process from the same condition mine was in) is there something that can be done in advance of the SLAM process that will eliminate the ammonia making the process go faster (and cheaper? the chlorine expense is...

    CC keeps rising

Yes. Just 10% chlorine. Nothing extra has been added since the MA and stabilizer before I started the slam.

    CC keeps rising

This is my 6th day of slamming a swamp and my CC keeps going up. Pool is losing less FC overnight but still significant and water is still cloudy blue/grey. Didn't check CC at first but after a couple of days I noticed the smell and it was at 1.5. two days later it was 2 and today its 2.5...

It just keeps coming back over and over :-(

I am using 10% liquid chlorine and "pool math" to figure out how much every evening after sun is off pool. I never let it dip below the target FC and I always check the dates for fresh chlorine. Just got my gauge fixed last week but usually backwash about every 2-3 days when slamming...

It just keeps coming back over and over :-(

I keep pool at 8 ppm and it drops to 5 each day. No OCL. Something in pool gathers at seams and wrinkles and when I sweep I discover I’ve got a dull covering of something that sweeps into a greenish cloud. Slammed at 16 for several days brushing 2 times a day. 1.5 chlorine loss first night...

    SLAM process question

I am wondering why the CYA needs to go up? Just curious.

    The resilient green cloud!

used skimmer sock and the stuff that it collected i was able to kill with bleach so i'm assuming it was algae. bumped shock level up to 17 and it finally killed it.

Dead algae in pool but water IN sand filter gross green

Not sure where my bloom came from - taken everything out of the pool and never let the FC get below 2. Had husband take lid off sand filter tonight and the water in there is gross green. I've had it at 17ppm for 24 hours and the stuff in the pool is dead. Shouldn't the stuff in the sand...

    The resilient green cloud!

FC 15 CC .3 PH 7.6 TA 250 CH 200 CYA 10 (per pool store. Couldn’t register it on mine and I am currently adding stabilizer using sock/skimmer method) I cannot get rid of my green stuff. Pool calculator says shock level is 10 and mustard algae is 12 which I tried for a couple of days and now...

Dirty water in return after I pump or sweep

I run it about 2 minutes on backwash (until bubble runs clear) and 1 minute on 'filter to waste' and 1 minute on 'pump to waste' and still get what i'm assuming is dirty water out of return for first 10-15 seconds after i turn it back to filter. This also happens just overnight -- I turn off the...

Dirty water in return after I pump or sweep

I do not have a rinse or clean on my filter. I have "pump to waste" "filter to waste" "recirculate" "backwash" "close" and "filter". I figured filtering it to waste would run it the correct way thru the sand again but send any left over stuff it to waste instead of back into my pool but that...

Dirty water in return after I pump or sweep

Just finished shocking process and my water is full of dead white algae. We've had the sand filter running 24 hours a day for about 2 weeks now (w/ D.E. every backwash) and the white stuff still remains. Both the pump and filter (Doughboy) were replacements and installed by a professional in...

    Chlorine isn't killing Algae!

I will bump up the chlorine to 18 and see what happens. know anything about the one-time-30ppm shock? That is sounding appealing but I don't want to damage anything....

    Chlorine isn't killing Algae!

I've got "my pools not dead -- it's surely alive" stuck in my head :-). If you don't know what I'm referring to you can ingnore the ramblings of this crazy chlorine testing obsessed woman
