Crazy Reaction when Testing for Bromine in Hot Tub

That's how I thought it was. But it's hard to test for CC's when the test starts turning pink again before you have a chance to add the 5 drops of R-0003. It's almost instant that it changes back to pick after it turns clear when adding R-0871.

Crazy Reaction when Testing for Bromine in Hot Tub

Yep, it has both UV and ozone. I just had never heard or read on turning pink again on that test when using bromine. I searched and searched. Thanks for clearing that up!! So no way to check for CC's or bromines version of it? Thanks for the insight!!! Much appreciated!!

Crazy Reaction when Testing for Bromine in Hot Tub

So, I've been following the BBB method for years. We built our pool in 2013 and switched over that same summer after finding this site (and after having multiple problems with multiple pool store runs). Of note, we have an older Jacuzzi hot tub at our lake house. The first summer we owned the...

Always Save Bleach - Very Disappointed!

For the atwoods chlorine, I don't have a bottle handy but the expiration was sometime in 2020. One of the possible culprits is that I noticed the seal on the bottle was loose. Not sure if that makes a difference. The seal on the Always Save brand was always super tight and I had to use a...

Always Save Bleach - Very Disappointed!

So I've been running tests on Attwood's "Pool Shock". At 1 gallon and 10 percent sodium hypochlorite, it should add approximately 3.5 of FC. I've ran a test bright and early the last several mornings and only getting anywhere from 0.5 to 2.0 per gallon...mostly in the 1.0 range. I've noticed...

Always Save Bleach - Very Disappointed!

Just checked and 1.99. I may have mistaken the price, because that's a big change from what I thought I remembered. Thanks again!

Always Save Bleach - Very Disappointed!

I have one pretty close, but usually it is 3.99 and sometimes on sale for 2.99. 1.99 would be grea! I'll have to check them out again, Thanks!!

Always Save Bleach - Very Disappointed!

I've had our pool for 6 years now and have used the TFP method for almost all of it. For the last 5 years, I have purchased Always Save brand regular bleach for 1.19 here at a local grocery store (sometimes getting 10 percent off my entire bleach order). The 96 ounce bottle has always said 6%...

How cold of water will you swim in?

Got in for about 20 minutes yesterday after work and water was 74 degrees and it was about 68 degrees air temp. Was used to the water temp in about 20 seconds. Prefer 80 plus will brave the cold temps at 70 or above. Really, anything at 70 or above is okay as long as it is hot outside...

Is this Algae or something else?

Rubbed some bleach and also a puck on the black spots with no color difference.

Is this Algae or something else?

Before it turns solid black, it's a bit smooth and can almost be removed by rubbing it with your finger (the residue is similar to removing sticky residue from a sticker). Once it turns black, it's hard and rough. I tested my FC and CC last night before I went to bed and my FC was 7.5 and CC...

Is this Algae or something else?

This black spots are showing up above the water line in random spots. They start off almost light black or gray and are easy to remove at that point. Once they turn black, I am finding them almost impossible to remove. The spots are slightly raised and become more prominently raised when...

New Hot Tub - TFPC Method vs. Bromine

It's a 500 gallon Jacuzzi. Our water rate there is 0.0023 per gallon, so $1.15 per fill...local water from the neighborhood well that is supposedly treated at the well. I do have a whole house filter that should catch some of the metals before the spicket. I've heard that when draining the...
