Pondering Automation Changes - valve circuit limitations

Hi. I have a Pentair Easytouch (520593), Intellichem, Intellichlor, ScreenLogic. These were new roughly 5 years ago. Two automated valves (one to switch vacuum side cleaner on and off; one to switch between returns and scuppers). Everything worked great until last fall when I installed first a...

Thoughts on choice of heat pump for year-round heating in Phoenix

Hi. Met with an installer today who suggested a Rheem/RayPak R/M8450ti-HC heat pump... pool is roughly 27000 gal. I've had suggestions for Pentair or Aquacal... are these all roughly the same quality? Anything that distinguishes one from another? What would seem a reasonable price for something...

What brand/type of salt do you recommend?

Along the same line, if I were to add salt with the Sodium Hexametaphosphate and followed with something like Orenda Technologies PR-10000 Phosphate Remover I assume I'd be all good... Thanks.

    FC and ORP... who wins?

Thanks for your response... I guess I'm trying to let the system manage the chemistry as much as possible... and hope if I set the target ORP at the end of the day to a corresponding FC level of 6 or so it will trigger the SWCG to recover to the level needed to keep FC @ 6 or so throughout the...

    FC and ORP... who wins?

It appears what others have done is ignored the ORP reading and just adjusted the run time and % to drive adequate FC... Is it possible to find the relative ORP level that corresponds to the correct level of FC and set that as the target or is the ORP relativity simply unreliable?

    FC and ORP... who wins?

Thanks. I reviewed your note and the related link... my preference is to disengage the ORP control of the intellichlor (SWCG) leaving intact the automated acid feed. I could then just set the chlorine generation to whatever generates what I need (5-6) based on run time and %. I think I've read...

    FC and ORP... who wins?

Hi all... I have an easytouch automation system with intellichem. A SWCG is attached. I've been balancing my pool as replastered late last year and just got the SWCG up an running last week... I've been following the prescribed TFP chemical levels for a SWCG pool... so CYA is around 70. This is...

Following pebble tek resurface turned on SWCG... now need balance the pool for salt

Thanks! Follow-up questions: does the CYA reading stabilize or will it continue to rise once the soc is empty? when driving TA down, any idea how many times one must lower PH then aerate... I'm sure it is pool size specific... rough idea? Any particular order when balancing pool water (read...

Following pebble tek resurface turned on SWCG... now need balance the pool for salt

Hi all... I'm in the process of trying to get my pool balanced... Target is TFP standards for salt water pool. Current test results: FC 6 ppm PH 7.5 - goal 7.6 TA 100 - goal is 60-70; So I read in these pages that to lower TA bring down PH to 7.0-7.2, then aerate until PH is 7.6; repeat as...

Auto fill with hard or softened water

Auto fill with hard or softened water

Well, I'm new to pools but am surprised that it continues to be a problem since no new CH is being added and evaporation is offset by softened water... how does it rise? Anyway, chiefwej, do you end up going through lots of salt in the softener (assuming you use a salt softener)... just...

Auto fill with hard or softened water

Hi. I am in the process of installing an auto fill in my new/old pool. I can plumb the auto fill either with hard water (15 - 17.5 grains/gal; 250 - 300 ppm) or softened water (or I suppose I could even blend it). One thought was to initially fill with hard and get the calcium levels right, and...

Installation of Auto Fill (Pentair T40FW)

Thanks spool... I hope so too... I'd think someone would be really familiar with this install.
