Still cloudy after all these days . . .

I totally agree. My rule has always been if I can't see the bottom then I wouldn't be able to see someone ON the bottom.

Still cloudy after all these days . . .

Whew - thanks to all of your encouragement, support and reminders to stay the course. The pool is not "hazy" - not quite crystal, but you can see the bottom - I have written before about the life lessons I got from my pool, but this was another one. You have to do what you know to do - those...

Still cloudy after all these days . . .

Dang - I was VERY excited about using it in my garden :) - thanks for the quick response. - - - Updated - - - I don't know if it would matter, but we have had a high pollen count the last two weeks AND two major rain storms (enough rain that I had to drain the pool). That may have something...

Adding DE to the pool - can I use "food grade" which will also work in my garden or does it have to be specifically for a pool?

Still cloudy after all these days . . .

If only it was the first thing I had gotten reversed ;) The CC - combined chlorine - is what I test first (and the one that I am keeping high during SLAM) and the FC - or free chlorine - is what is what I test second (and the goal is zero or close to it). Scratch that - reverse it No - I...

Still cloudy after all these days . . .

We are now on week two of SLAM and the kids are getting anxious. I tested last night and we were at 16.5 CC - this morning 16.0 CC NO FC but the pool is still not blue? I'm only backwashing when the pressure is up (replaced the gauge). And still brushing daily and running the vacuum. Is there...

I was looking at Dave's - but will probably leave this one up to the hubby. It makes him feel like he knows what he's doing. :D

Still cloudy after all these days . . .

I think I know part of my problem - my pressure gauge has been sitting at 20 PSI - even when I turn off the filter. I think it might be time to replace that.

ran out of titrate reagent 0871

I just kept adding about the same amount I had been adding every few hours . . . and crossed my fingers. NONE of the pool stores around here or in the neighboring town had - although one of them knew what I was talking about and why, so that was impressive. The R-0871 arrived by US mail...

Still cloudy after all these days . . .

I have a 33' above ground vinyl pool. It is testing at 17 FC and 45 CYA using a Taylor K-2006 I started the SLAM a week ago, and the pool is a cloudy, but light blue (you can almost make out the bottom). When I tested my CC this afternoon, it was 0 - so I will be testing overnight tonight...

ran out of titrate reagent 0871

I have some of the chemical on order, but I ran out in the middle of SLAM - so, I was going to grab a test kit from walmart (maybe my pool store if they have anything other than strips). So far, I haven't found any of the ones recommended, but I was thinking the hth 6-way test kit MIGHT be good...

40 Straight Days above 100*, but Water is TO COLD!

I need more guidance on just how to attach something to the return. My pool installer told me to just remove the eye but do I need to lower the water level?

    CYA at level zero

The last two times I've tested the CYA - it has been zero. I did think of something just now though - I might need to order new chemicals for the season? Do I need to add CYA to the pool? I am using the k-2006 Complete (FAS-DPD chlorine) from Taylor. Water is slightly cloudy, but a lot of...
