Large pool owners - how do you do it?

We have a flagstone coping so I suppose that would require sealing. I am going to get some estimates on a SWG this week if possible. I am a little concerned about the salt taste to the water. That would be my only concern, other than the stone needing to be sealed.

    Yardoasis's Replaster Thread

Your pool looks beautiful after the replaster! I'm sure you will keep it that way if it was done properly this time.

Closing on a house with badly stained pool

I'd get the stain ID kit and see what that is. How big is the pool and do you know how old the plaster is? Does it have a heater?

Yet another stain problem, iron or copper?

Finally! I got my test kit and have done 3 tests so far. CH is 425 TA is 90 pH is 7.5 The pool guy is trying to get rid of the (what I now believe is) scale and has put Jack's Magic into the pool. It looks better but I am going to do the tests and just check things out. Should I adjust...

How much did you pay to have that done?

How are people in Houston or nearby getting their chlorine?

Just found this company, they are in Bryan. http://hasapool.com/Home I can't tell from their website if they sell direct to consumers. There is no dealer given in Houston, but there are 3 in Dallas. Maybe we could start our own pool supply store for TFP's method? :) Only half-joking... I...

How are people in Houston or nearby getting their chlorine?

There's no Aldi near me - I will check the dollar stores, but I don't expect that their bleach would be very strong, so even more bottles would be needed. We do have a small HEB not far away. I wondered what had happened to Warehouse Pool Supply - now I know. I can't remember that they...

How are people in Houston or nearby getting their chlorine?

It might be. I have never priced it, because I thought it was just another gimmick to sell naive pool-building customers "It's not chlorine! It's salt!" Even now I hear people say their pool is "saltwater" and I want to scream and gnash my teeth.

Large pool owners - how do you do it?

Our pool is 43,000 gallons and I know that b/c we had to drain and refill it for a total redo about 18 mos. ago. The water co. charged me for 43,000 gallons. :) We had a smaller pool at our last house - and I was definitely considering the TFP method when we found this house and moved. This...

How are people in Houston or nearby getting their chlorine?

How are people in Houston or nearby getting their chlorine? With a huge pool, I would prefer to have it delivered (free of course) and I would like to have the 12% strength but so far, I am not seeing this available to the average homeowner. Even just 2 containers at day (96 oz.) would cost me...

Yet another stain problem, iron or copper?

Thanks for the response. I'm not trying to mix the advice, it's just that you guys aren't here to see the pool, so I am seeking some local eyes to know what to do next. You must understand that the TFP method (used to be BBB) is overwhelming to consider at first. When there are problems, it's...

Yet another stain problem, iron or copper?

Alrighty...Pool Service Co. #1 was just here. Their opinion is that it is scale, and I should buy 2 bottles of Scale-Tec and throw it in the pool ($35/20,000 gallons). He said that the Jack's Magic #2 is more for spot treatment (which is true) and it wouldn't work for the scale, which would...

Yet another stain problem, iron or copper?

So I was going to fire the pool service guy today...But he didn't show up! He sent his assistant today, and hasn't answered my texts. He might be out of town but it would have been nice to have known that. He had no idea I was going to confront him, so he's not hiding from me... I made 2...

    Electrolysis of Stainless Steel?

I have never seen or heard of a stainless-steel lined pool. Is this more commonly done in certain parts of the US? Is it as costly, say, as tiling the entire pool with 1x1 tiles? I looked for images on the internet but I can't really find any that make it plain that I'm seeing SS. Plaster...

Yet another stain problem, iron or copper?

We do have a Polaris automatic cleaner; it does a great job. We have to empty it twice or three times a day in leaf season! We've got lots of trees and invariably it's windy in the fall and our neighbors also contribute to our leaf load. (It's not fully leaf season yet and this staining...
