ok thanks. its pretty much just a fine dust thats in the pool. If I vacuum through the filter it seems to deposit the dust in front of the jets. Going to drain removes it all completely and keeps the pool cleaner for longer.

Re: Finding leak in in-ground pool Solved it. I used the PH test drops around the pool and found the leak behind the skimmer gate , where the skimmer joins the plaster of the pool was a crack. Filled it, no more leak. :)
