Great $250 replacement for Intex Filter Pump

I don't remember on the hoses. A lot of them were hand-me-downs I got from free-cycle. I have since sold the pool, filter, and heater, so I can't look at them, My 6 foot 14 YO didn't find a 3.5 foot pool much fun anymore.

Is cover over the ring & down and on an Intex a good idea?

Re: Is cover over the ring & down and on an Intex a good ide I put tape on the holes. So far so good. Using a hand skimmer is working pretty good to get the tree parts off. I also found a good way to get water off the cover. I filled one of my empty bleach bottles with water. I stuck a...

Is cover over the ring & down and on an Intex a good idea?

Hi folks, We have been using the Intex cover that came with our 12 x 20 oval frame pool. It is a single layer of vinyl that fits the pool perfectly. It even has a draw-string to help keep it on. It seems to do good themally since it prevents all evaporation. On a recent night the pool...

Intex pool- how to rid dead algea from bottom

It feels sort of like felt, but it is clearly synthetic. http://www.cleanerpools.net/faq.php They claim to capture particles as small as 1 micron. My particles were fine enough that when I moved the bag around some did come through. The answer was to turn off the pump to the the bag...

Views from the bottom of my pool

To blow ring bubble you do have to have your moth pointing straight up. I use a scuba mask to keep the water out of my nose and see what I am doing. Next pucker your lips like for a kiss. Then puff out a short blast of air. With practice you can get different sizes depending on how much air...

Intex pool- how to rid dead algea from bottom

I closed the valve and disconnected the hose that returns water to the pool. I clamped the slime bag onto the end of the hose and hung it over the side.

These were taken with a Fujifilm FINEPIX Z33 WP. This is a pretty good compact camera for a fairly low price.

Views from the bottom of my pool

Thanks to this forum I have the nicest pool water I have ever been in. It is also incredibly clear. Here are a few fun photos showing off my water. These are all real. The only image processing was to shrink them. Yes those are real ring bubbles. I just love blowing them. I had...

Intex pool- how to rid dead algea from bottom

I hate to be a spoiler, but the Intex filter might not be up to the job of filtering out the dead algae. The problems are that some water can bypass the filter entirely and the filter itself not being capable of trapping particles that small. I was in exactly this situation. My solution was...

Great $250 replacement for Intex Filter Pump

When my Intex filter/pump died I found a great replacement for about $250 at Amazon.com. I figure it will pay for itself in not needing to buy lots of Intex filters in 2 years and it works so much better. solar heater question

There has to be a way to do this. I would try to plumb them in parallel. Don't have the same water go through both heaters. That could be too much resistance.

A stretegy for starting with very basic water

The distilled water was in my basement which is about 57 F. I think I will follow the advise to adjust the TA right away. I will also get some Chlorine in there right away.

A stretegy for starting with very basic water

At breakfast my wife told me she has a pH test kit for her fish tank that goes much higher. That test says the pH is greater than 8.6. There is something about adding muriatic acid that bugs me, but I will get over it. Thanks, JLM

A stretegy for starting with very basic water

Happy Spring, I will be filling my pool again soon, so I am getting a fresh start on my water. With the advice of TFP I have been having progressively better results putting less in it each year. Visitors have commented on my pool water being very nice. My tap water has a TA of 30. Best I...
