Hayward SP2607X10 Super Pump 1-HP Problems

In July 2014 I replaced the original pump (20+ years old, noisy and leaking) with a new identical pump, a Hayward SP2607X10 Super Pump 1-HP. Worked fine for the past 3 pool seasons. I've got my pool open this season but both the suction and output of my pump is really poor. I can't open both...

    Where did my CYA go?

Well the green pool I had yesterday is now blue today. Vacuumed and chucked in the robot. I've got the chlorinator filled with pucks running at maximum. Latest water results: FC: 9 CC: 0.5 PH: 7.0 TA:50 CH: 90 CYA: less than 30

    Where did my CYA go?

Took off the cover today. Green but could see the bottom in the shallow end. Got the filter up and running and started to hammer the pool with bleach. Brushed the whole pool. Turned the Stenner on too and let it run...so I'm getting chlorine into the pool. I didn't need to add any water to the...

Survey: Air Compressor vs. Shop Vac

Cyclone for me. I used to use a compressor but now HUGE volume and great pressure for as long as I need it, all at the flick of a switch. Main drain bubble stream was so much bigger compared to my old compressor. The Cyclone also worked great blowing out my solar panels.

New Sungrabber Solar Panels - Let the summer begin!

I'm no expert, just sharing what I did. My old "pre-Sandy" panels were plumbed this way, worked great for many years. If Sandy didn't rip them off my roof I'm sure the panels would still be in use. I had no leaks, absolutely zero operational problems. I just blew them out for winterizing and...

New Sungrabber Solar Panels - Let the summer begin!

Here is how I plumbed my solar panels. They are all in parallel, but I used a trick (from my daytime gig as an electrical engineer) to help assure that all the panels get equal water through them. The water goes up to the top of the ridge line (so the pressure is the lowest) and I feed the...

    Air Supply Cyclone Liner Vac/Blower

Skimmers I use a shop vac to suck the water out, very thoroughly...add antifreeze and install a gizmo. To blow out the jets, returns and main drain I made an adaptor that allows me to pressure my system from the pump/filter side. I got a spare filter pump basket cover for my pump. I drilled a...

New Sungrabber Solar Panels - Let the summer begin!

Solar covers do work, I had one for a couple of seasons. Me I didn't like the hassle of putting it on, taking it off...watching all the cover debris dump into the shallow end. The cover also made the pool "less available". I couldn't just jump in the pool for a quick plunge if I had just...

New Sungrabber Solar Panels - Let the summer begin!

I bought 50 yards of 3/4" heavy duty strapping. The panels came with 5/8" but heavy duty 3/4" will fit...it is MUCH stronger. The industrial hose I used was 1.5", it fit on my panels just fine.

    Air Supply Cyclone Liner Vac/Blower

I just finished closing my pool for the 1st time using an Air Supply Cyclone Liner Vac 3HP 120V 3-Stage, instead of my 26 gallon Craftsmen compressor. The Cyclone was well worth the purchase. Instead of doing "tank dumps" and having to wait each time for the compressor tank to refill, I had all...
