    Pump pressure high

The gauge goes to zero when turned off. The heater is turning off when the gauge hits 27. From what I can tell the grids are clogged. It looks like I need to use the acid wash or replace them. Since the grids are 12 years old, I may just get new grids. When the pool was installed, I was new to...

    Pump pressure high

My pool is 12 years old. Every year, I take the DE filter apart, hose down the grids, and reassemble. In the spring when I open the pool, I add fresh Aqua Perl powder to the filter. My normal filter pressure is about 15. I normally only have to backwash once a month. Pressure usually...

    Hayward Super Pump help

The main label on the pump lists the HP as 1.5-1.25. There is another sticker on the pump which states HP as 1.5. The documentation for the pump states 1.5 hp OR 1.25 hp (ain't that confusing). The service factor is listed as 1. The form factor is 56J. Isn't the STS1102R a 56C?

    Hayward Super Pump help

I got an in-ground pool back in 2011. I have a 2 speed Hayward Superpump sp1610z2msc. It runs 9 hrs day on my timer. Pool is open from mid may to beginning of September. When I opened the pool this year, I noticed the pump is making a high pitched buzzing noise when running on high speed...

Thank you & Question on CYA

I got my pool installed in 2011. The installer got me started on a mineral system. (They do not like chlorine). It was a miserable first 2 years. Algae blooms, constant brushing and cleaning. Hated it. Tried Phos Free. That was worse. Clogged up my filter and had to do a complete clean...

Tested the pool tonight. Had to back wash the filter one more time as well.... FC 8.5 CC 0 PH 7.7 TA 60 CH 150 CYA 40 I had added some soda ash to the pool today to bump up the PH. I was surprised to see the TA jump since I did not add anything to increase it. At this point I assume I need...

Vacuumed the pool. Got all the dirt off the bottom. Back washed the filter and reloaded it with Aqua Perl. Brushed all the sides and the bottom of the pool. Slammed the pool again and will recheck my readings tomorrow. Found the info for the slam at the bottom of the Pool Math page. Missed...

Tested the pool at lunch time. Second day using the test kit instead of a test strip. I understand it better now and I think my results are more accurate as compared to yesterday... I still need to get the better Chlorine test since my levels are over 10 ppm but with that said... FC: Over...

Rechecked what I got and I have the 81-330 which is not the FAS-DPD. Just read up on the differences and now I understand. I will have to get another kit for the better chlorine tests. My pool installer never told me to worry about cya levels when shocking the pool, they just told me to use...

Sorry for the typo. I meant Calcium Hypochlorite. That is what I had always used for shock. Its 73% Calcium Hypochlorite and minimum 70% chlorine. I was always told to use at least two bags to shock the pool. The test kit uses Taylor agents. The label on the front says - Complete Poolcare...

I had my pool installed in 2011. At the time I was put on the aqua smarter system. It's been ok but algae would start to grow ever few weeks. And then I would have to shock it again. I found out this year that the pool store is no longer selling that system as others are having the same issue as...
