    When to Open for 2010

We don't have a cover, so in a sense our pool has been "open" all winter long. The other day I got my testig kit out, and started balancing the water. So here we are, with snow on the ground, and a sparkling blue pool. I thought it would be cool to get in the spa (attached to pool), but when I...

    Broken parts

I guess I need a Hayward sight glass - but when I search at some online stores, it's hard to figure out which one I need. I did go to poolcenter.com, and was a little disappointed with their $12 shipping fee (that's 50% on top of my cost) Also, a Jandy Valve handle. I will do what you...

    DE in pool water

I'm sure this topic has been covered in the past, but I can't seem to find it (the search words are too common :? ) After backwashing a bunch of extra water from our pool, I went to put in some more DE. I've never had any problems with DE getting back into the pool water, but today the water...

    Broken parts

So I wanted to get a head start on getting our pool ready for the summer - We live in Texas, and it will be warm before you know it. I went outside to check on the pump, and to my dismay, I found my little glass backwash viewer broken. I guess 16 degree weather will do that  I would...

A couple of thunderstorms helped to lower our temp from 92 to a nice 85.

    Downsides of high FC

Really? :? Interesting. I wonder why it's a percentage, instead of a set number... Any chemical reasons for that?

    Tile popped off

One of the tiles in our pool popped off. It's right at the water line. What kind of stuff do I use to put it back in place, and make sure it doesn't fall off again? And where can you buy it? [attachment=2:2k3x6vip]IMG_3384R.jpg[/attachment:2k3x6vip] It looks like the previous owners have...

What kind of stains? - with pictures

So I've been inspecting the "stains" some more while swimming. It almost looks more like damage to the plaster. The surface of the stains have a different texture - more rough. If it is damage, how do you repair something like that? They're not algae stains. I don't have any vitamin C, so...
