    Fighting PH^ drift

Sure. Ever seen a Florida downpour? Doubt you have many like it nor tile roofs in MD. It's less runoff than it is overspray. Considerable amounts are spent on cage gutters and deck pitch here to keep it out of pools. I was attempting to find a realistic buffer to the PH problem. Sarcastic...

    Fighting PH^ drift

Did I mention the new tile roof? Could I be chasing runoff?

    Fighting PH^ drift

Sorry, this is not my pool w/ a spillover. No spa or other features in it - just standard returns so not a whole lot of outgassing going on. One other thing to note is that my Taylor kit will not measure PH over 8 so when it's bright red that's a PH of 8+ and around here it's an invite for...

    Fighting PH^ drift

This is probably a topic covered repeatedly somewhere herein, just short on time and long on work atm. I have a pool in my care that although by all accounts (ie: TC, CYA, TA, FC, etc. using Taylor 2600) are all on the money for a gunite pool this one picks up an upward swing in PH regularly...

I've defected to the dark side! New peristaltic pump

Sounds like vapor leakage at connections. Bleach is a gassing fluid and will push gas out of an otherwise seemingly leak-free connection. Black tubing absorbs insolation (sunlight) and will transmit that energy (heat) to the fluid inside. All fluids have a vapor point and the bleach is...

I've defected to the dark side! New peristaltic pump

Most chem tanks are opaque so UV degradation isn't an issue. As far as concentration is concerned I guess it depends on how much you want to get "touchy feely" with your stuff. If you want it to run more, use a lower concentration. If you want it to run less go the other way. IMHO the...

Is it possible for algae to become imbedded in Diamondbrite?

Re: Is it possible for algae to become imbedded in Diamondbr I see in other threads folks having some luck w/ Jack's stain ID kits. Opinions? Thanks guys

Is it possible for algae to become imbedded in Diamondbrite?

Re: Is it possible for algae to become imbedded in Diamondbr I get the ascorbic acid but could you be a bit more clear on methodology. Unsure of what a pvc "sprinkler end cap" is. Do you mean to use a length of pipe w/ perforated cap to hold tabs in place whilst they dissolve? Edit: I am...

    CaCl Costs

About the only time I wish I was back in NY is when we need Calcium Chloride. Up there you can buy it just about anywhere, even the grocery store, for about 15 bucks a 40lb bag. Down here - HA! not much snow/ice to melt and the pool stores whack you over the head for it.

Can you name this stain? And what to do about it.

Those are similar in color to the stains I'm trying to address although ours are not as severe and are a bit more streaky. Chemgeek suggested lowering PH as he has metal stains that evidently show up at higher levels. Alas mine are still there. Here's the other thread...

Is it possible for algae to become imbedded in Diamondbrite?

Re: Is it possible for algae to become imbedded in Diamondbr Never understood why most pool builders did that although I think Anthony & Sylvan had a whole pool circulation concept which I haven't seen catch on in the rest of the industry. Anyway, lowered PH to 7.4 last nite and let pool...

    Greetings from South Florida

Yep pretty much how I feel every time I do it. There's a dot- no, wait, there isn't :hammer: Thanks for the input. Figure I'm about blind anyway.

    Greetings from South Florida

Hey Geek, got any good ways to make a subjective test like CYA a bit less subjective? Think some folks can "see" that dot a bit more than others. I tend to scale mine up to err on the good side but maybe you have a more subtle approach.

I've defected to the dark side! New peristaltic pump

Wow. Why put it in your basement? Could be nice, clean install next to pool equip and easy exit for winter. The output line could even be put on a qd (male) so you just cut and run in the fall. Most tanks, at least the REAL chem tanks, have a mounting pad built in. A real sexy dedicated...
