Thought I'd throw in an update. I spent this afternoon sweating profusely and taking far too many trips between the pool store and home depot.... I replaced the stupid grids, and all the other broken parts (like the clamp...), and added new DE, and miraculously, my pool did not turn to milk :D...

No - I have the up/down slide kind that either goes into the pool, or into the drain. On a side thought, does my "elevated" jet (about a foot above the pool, built into the wall) getting less and less flow throughout the day indiciative of anything? It starts out maybe going 6 inches...

I think I know whats wrong... But I'm hoping maybe there is a good way to confirm it before I have to go off and spend all kinds of money... Or ideally I'll be just wrong, which would be awesome! I have a Pentair NS48 stainless steel DE filter, its probably at least 20 years old... But I don't...

This is really more of a... does this seem odd to anyone else type question, but here it goes... We have a rectangular...ish pool The long sides of the pool are north/south facing. I was killing off some algae from my week...or 2... of lazy forgetfullness and annoyingly not great weather...

We have automation for pool/spa mode, but the main drain is not a part of that, so it would either have to be open with no vacuum... or maybe partially open? Is there is any benefit to that (besides not having the vacuum in the pool)? I set the spa to run for an hour each day, and its already...

Oh right... Automation... I kinda forgot I had that... :oops: Thanks! So, I also failed to mention... I don't usually use the drain at all. I have a pool vacuum on the suction side that i generally use instead... Is there a benefit to using the drain some as well?
