My pool does not have a timer and it plugs into a electrical socket.Where could i get a timer and how hard is it to set up?

This is my first time having a pool and going on vacation. What do I need to do to keep my pool maintained while im gone? Do I need to keep the pool pump running the whole time and just leave the clorine pucks in the litte dispenser?
