You test result of CC - 3 indicates you still need to be SLAMing. I think you want to complete you SLAM before dealing with the staining.

    Killing mustard algae

This is normal for mustard algea the regular slam level will not be affected by it so you will pass the regular onclt but once you raise to mustard levels it gets used so keep at it this is tgeonly way to get it all

How aggressive is mustard algae + the black algae woes

Re: How aggressive is mustard algae Try the onclt at shock level or higher that how I dignosed my mustard a few years back something about it be more resistant at lower fc levels it doesn't consume the fc

Do I need to be concerned with a .4 CC level

no need to worry about the CC but a FC of 1 is low you need to refer to the CYA/ chlorine chart to ensure you don't fall below the min. recommended level as being below can allow something to start to grow which might require you to SLAM your pool

Too much bleach for estimate gallons of my pool

Op states clear Being over 2 ppm isn't to far off with testing error water level flucuation chlorine strength flucuation just moniter and adjust future additions

FC Loss per day without CYA

Start at 40. Once you get a good grasp of how it is using fc then you can bump it up but never let fc drop below the level on the cya fc chart The cover will cut fc loss dramatically by blocking sun and keeping stuff out of pool

    Boric Acid v borax

If I am not mistaken before you add borates you should make sure your TA is in range as once you add borates it is harder to adjust TA

Green water continues, new filter installed and chemicals OK

Re: Green water continues, new filter installed and chemical Don't worry about the filter until you kill the algea. A filter does nothing to kill anything I would trust your judgement that it is fine. Lower your cya, keep fc at shock level adding chlorine as often as possible hourly is best...

First Official Test With Taylor K-2005 Test Kit

Slow down. We dont recommend changing to many things to quick. There is a recommended order in what should be fixed first. I cant remember off the top of my head but pretty certain CYA is first. Since that will require a patial drain and fill soime of that calcium you just added might be...
