Here are two pictures that show the T-15 cell and valve. I just found out from Inyo pools that the Hayward Glx-Cell-Pipe uses a standard 2 inch pvc pipe.

The three way valve looks like it has a threaded fitting that is glued in. Why don't I take a picture of the valve and send it tomorrow. thanks

I did replace the K1 relay about 3 years ago, and the board has been working fine till now. But your point may still be valid. Thanks for the advice, I wish I could find out what the failure rates are for Hayward and pentair units and the decision would be easy.
