    Ph test block reading

OK, Dumb question of the day. When reading the block, where does a reddish color fit into the block spectrum of colors. I'm looking at it and it's red, rosey red. Now the block runs from low (pale orange) to high (grape colored)...I'm just not sure where my red fits in. Thanks as always.... J

    Test Result Numbers

Dave & Butterfly, I did omit that I have what I think is an accurate reading of 30 CYA. The water is cloudy at present. I had been adding chlorine stabilizer but I am out and need to get some more. Thanks again,

    Test Result Numbers

Hi all, I've been keeping up so far with the pool but have just completed about 8 days of heavy useage. 5 nephews and assorted others have probably taxed it pretty good. My numbers this morning are the following: FC=2.5 CC=.5 TC=3.0 pH ~7.2 T/A=60 I had added ~ 1/2 gal of 5.25% bleach...

Air in returns / Chlorinator suspect ???

Hi, For whatever reason and I'm sure it's operator induced I've got air in my returns big time. Now as a result of going BBB the Hayward chlorinator is not in use. It also had it's position shifted during a replumbing repair some time ago. It actually sits higher inline above the line coming...

Hayward DE 3600 Microclean Lid gasket reset

Ted, Got lucky on several counts. I was able to create a facsimile of one of the bolts and have it in place. I think also I had forgotten the difficulty in getting the O ring to seat. Once I had 190# laying on the cover and finessing it into place I knew I had it licked. It is now running...

Hayward DE 3600 Microclean Lid gasket reset

Ted, Am struggling to come up with a solution and bolt replacement. Tried to reset the old O ring with only 1 clamp for adjusting and it blew out again. Trouble is lurking I can see. Any chance that bolt was in your inventory?

Hayward DE 3600 Microclean Lid gasket reset

Ted, Thanks for the heads up. Right now I think the main thing is still getting a new bolt in there. I think the gasket is salvageable. Trying to remove that T bolt is going to be a challenge too. JH

Hayward DE 3600 Microclean Lid gasket reset

Thanks for the help. I do lube it with the standard gasket lube. That's exactly what seems to have happened that back clamp won't go either direction so I think it's time to cut and snip and replace with like you said a temporary fix. I think some kind of stainless set up will fit the bill...

Hayward DE 3600 Microclean Lid gasket reset

Hi, After hopefully degreasing my filter I'm having trouble getting the big lid gasket to reset. I've done it before intermittently but I really seem to be struggling now. The clamp bolts are not helping and I think I need to replace them as well. The threads seem to have gotten bunged up...

    Trying to tweak numbers

Thanks Paul and Zea, Will give it a shot and see if I can stabilize it out. I'll report back my progress.. JH

    Trying to tweak numbers

Hi all, I've been trying to 'zone in' with my test numbers. The obvious thing is that when I really hit the pool with the bleach it really cleans and clears it up. Now I know the trick is getting the CYA to buffer the bleach and that's where I seem to be falling down. I took it up to shock...

    Late startup

Mom, A follow up in a little different direction. As noted on my sig there is a Hayward heater inline that quite frankly I may never use. I thought I remembered reading something about that creating some havoc somehow. Is this a concern? If so I wouldn't have a problem plumbing around it...

    Late startup

Hi Mom, Thanks, I will make the switch and do the loss test. The water looks good as it has but does it make sense that as the CYA has started to show some recordable levels that it has gotten even better looking? It has been clear but with a bit of a greenish tint. This will be great when...

    Late startup

Hi all, Back from a week away from the pool and it didn't disintegrate on me and am now ready to care for it closely. It seems that I cant' keep chlorine available overnight because and early morning check will show low or no levels. This morning, Chlorine w/ the quickie tester ~0.5 after 32...

    Late startup

Thanks Bfly, Will do, actually I have 'the sock' w/ ~ 36 oz hanging in front of return and doing it's thing. Thanks for your help. I now have to go off and leave it for a week w/ minimal assistance while gone.
