What is in my pool? Pics included

I get same looking stuff in my pool for the first month after opening, I find it is mostly pollen and dust from the air. After the kids have been in the pool stirring up the water, it settles out evenly overnight and pool looks clean. But as soon as the pump comes on and starts circulating...

Question about my pool after Neighbor's House fire *UPDATE*

I am guessing this clean up may have already been done. But it occurs to me that if the oily stuff is floating on the surface, it would make sense to just fill the pool until the surface water and debris overflows off. Then let the pool sit for a day to let the particulates settle to the...

    Cloudy pool won't clear.

Am helping a neighbor with pool, but having a problem getting it clear. Pool was green with algae when closed in fall, CYA was over 100. Opened this spring to white cloudy water and a CYA of 60 Shocked pool for 3 days at 25 and then maintained at 8, there are no CC's present. Current...

    Site prep for Intex donut

When I had mine, I built a 2x6 pressure treated octogon frame, leveled it, put down a layer of plastic sheeting inside, filled it half way up with sand and then put pool on top. -

Converting from Baquacil to Chlorine soon...a few questions

Jason, What you are saying is that this short period of high chlorine will not do any notable damage, beyond perhaps shortening the life of the liner by little bit? And I would think the money saved by not using bacquacil for ten years will probably cover the cost of a new liner anyway.

    Pool Forum Gone ??

Thanks, I did get to it through the proxy, Odd that I was able to go direct a month or two ago, but no longer. Not sure why they even continue it, no new registrations have been allowed for years and most people who have been on it that long have their pools in order. -

    Pool Forum Gone ??

I just tried to get on "The Pool Forum" and it didn't come up. I was wondering if the site is down for good and if so what happened? -

    What's an Oxidizer do?

This is a 36000 gallon, Gunite IG, I am guessing ti was part of the "package" the owner got sold. While I have you, the plaster looks sort of mottled and yellowed in spots, mostly within a foot below the water line. Calcium reading 190, could the water be leeching the calcium out of the...

    What's an Oxidizer do?

Found this expalantion: "Oxygen ( 02 ) is converted into Ozone Molecules ( 03 ) by an electrical charge. The Ozone molecules are then injected into your spa’s water. Ozone is highly reactive, so it interacts with “contaminants” it encounters in your spa water. One of the 3 oxygen atoms...

    What's an Oxidizer do?

Thanks, I found an explanation of the device and I think it may actually be somewhat effective. The pool is a little over 100 CYA, the Cl at 7 , and suprisingly clear They're using 3 inch tabs in a feeder. I pointed them to the forum.

    What's an Oxidizer do?

Anyone know what an Oxidizer is supposed to do? I saw one the other day by a pools filtering equipment, it was "Smart Pure" or "Pure Smart" It was basically a 6" x 9" Aluminum box about three foot long, electrically powered, and had just a small 1/2" tube running from it. Never saw one before.

    DIY Liquid Chlorine Dispenser

I was thinking of using an almost identical set up for dispensing bleach during vacation. I will add a small bit of tubing to the end and open the valve just enough to drip slowly into the pool. 5 gallons should last the week I am gone

How to fill in gunite around spa jets?

I would insist on the contractor correcting these mistakes before the plaster is applied. Why are you accepting this improper work?

    GLB Xchange

Very interesting article. A slow conversion with continued pool use would be a good alternative for some people, as the swimming season has begun. Now we just need a someone to try it. Hmmm, which of my neighbors still uses Baquacil?
