Last year was torture - This year? Much better!

Yeah, and I've got to make some big changes in line with that. Nearby pine tree has to go, liner needs replacing (got some sizable holes over last winter that need patching to get us through one more season), but once I get things in order, some good tracking of events and numbers should put me...

You know, I don't, but that makes total sense. I should start doing so. I'll print off some charts that I can fill in and track my numbers. Thanks!

That did it! Didn't test my TA yet, but everything else looks good. CC is .5, PH is 7.5 and I added the right amount of CYA to bring me back to 40. Everything is looking good! Thanks for the suggestion. Now if I could just get some temperatures above 75 degrees! Well, unless something goes...

Last year was torture - This year? Much better!

Yeah I read about that before I bought it. It just kind of sits by itself in a corner of my garage. It's actually the same stuff this guy bought. Must have something to do with big box stores in NY all carrying the same nebulous stuff. Sounds like it may be 20% so I'll see if I can't best guess...

Last year was torture - This year? Much better!

Ah ha, so I was right, I need to add acid. The weird part is, I actually have a jug of acid that I never used last year, but it doesn't say anywhere on it what % it is! Weird right? Thinking maybe I should swing by walmart and get some PH reducer since I think that's a dried version of the same...

Thanks! Printed those out last year and keep them in a binder. It's been priceless for me this year. What do you think of my numbers? Anything concerning?

Last year was torture - This year? Much better!

Don't know if anyone remembers me from last year, but long story short, I had a heck of a time getting my pool in order. After much blood, sweat, tears, swearing, threatening to sell my pool, locked and deleted threads, I FINALLY got things in order. Just in time to be able to enjoy the pool for...

Pool Update - The Eagle Has Landed

I just happened to spot them. Patching just seems impossible. Not only do I have to keep track of pebble sized holes, but I have to hold my breath, try to stay down, and manage to keep the patch pressed together, open it quickly and apply it. It's quite the impossible mission.

Pool Update - The Eagle Has Landed

She's enjoying it! She admitted she was glad we kept it. Yeah, after some research I'm almost certain the sand is due to cracked laterals. Not a big deal, not season I was wanting to overhaul the filter anyway, so that's no big deal, but... ...I found at least three holes in the liner. Not...

Pool Update - The Eagle Has Landed

My only concern at this point is the two tiny holes I found in the floor of the liner and the amount of sand I've been finding in the floor. I thought I vacuumed it all up yesterday, but when I got in today there was a bunch there again. Maybe I missed some? Maybe it's coming in the holes in...

Pool Update - The Eagle Has Landed

We sure are! Every evening after dinner even despite the cold snaps at night! My 2 year old is having a blast!

Pool Update - The Eagle Has Landed

After the amount of time and effort I had invested, when it seemed to be going nowhere fast, and THEN it seemed like my filter had leaks, I was ready to call it quits. Glad I didn't! PSI is 16 clean and 18 with half a cup of DE. I might backwash again this weekend and do 1/4 cup just to keep...

Pool Update - The Eagle Has Landed

Just wanted to give a quick update for those who had been following my ordeal in the last two threads on the subject. After some more cleaning, maintaining chlorine and a wee bit of DE added to the filter, we have a totally swimable pool. Huge thanks to CJ, Leebo, and kimkats for all their...
