Replaced Hayward SP1607 motor with VGreen 165 - Which Impeller?

Thanks guys, I replaced the SP2607 impeller with the SP2610C and what a difference! Night and day as far as flow, especially at lower RPMs.

Replaced Hayward SP1607 motor with VGreen 165 - Which Impeller?

Coming from a 1.0 HP pump and impeller, the new 1.65 HP motor seems to spin out with no discernible difference in pressure, flow or suction between the two highest speeds. I suspect the pump is simply spinning out with too little load. Also, a larger impeller would flow more, allowing me to...

Replaced Hayward SP1607 motor with VGreen 165 - Which Impeller?

Hi All - I recently replaced an old Hayward SP1607 motor with a Century VGreen 165 motor. Its working fairly well so far, but I have to limit my high speed because of the small impeller. What size should I switch to? My diffuser should accommodate up to two sizes larger. Should I move to...

Polaris Halcyon pump trips 20A breaker

Yes, I know. I guess its the first thing to check as soon as Im ready to tackle the plumbing. I was just curious to see what Im up against.

Polaris Halcyon pump trips 20A breaker

Thats actually encouraging. If it were the impeller seal, that would mean loss of prime and loss of load, similar to running the pump dry (as in my case). If it were the bearings going out, that might mean increased load instead. I guess its all just speculation until I actually get around to...

Polaris Halcyon pump trips 20A breaker

I believe the higher voltage wiring would pull fewer amps, but would barely move if plugged into a 120V. Still, I don't think this is the case here. The pump has a straight blade plug meant for 120V, and there are only free 120V outlets coming form the conduit. The sole 240V receptacle is...

Polaris Halcyon pump trips 20A breaker

Well, it was getting hot with no load - no water being pumped. Its possible that the added RPM caused it to pull more amps, but I would think adding a load would pull more than free spinning. Im not sure one way or the other.

Polaris Halcyon pump trips 20A breaker

Hi all - I recently finished rebuilding my pool which hadn't been opened in 9 years by the previous owners. One thing that came with it was a polaris 380, which I dont have any experience with. I purchased new hose and fittings and plumbed the pump back into the system to test it out. I had...

DIY IG rehab, cement walls, vinyl liner - Pool Filled!!

Sounds like you've got it well in hand. If youre comfortable with the aforementioned, then all thats left is actually doing it. Just do some reading and ask questions online, as there are undoubtedly some subtleties that come with an outdoor chlorine or salt water environment. Best of luck...

DIY IG rehab, cement walls, vinyl liner - Pool Filled!!

Ha ha, Thanks! My occupation is actually computer networking, but after recently purchasing my first home with my wife, we have caught the DIY bug pretty bad. I really think the largest hurdle is always mental, so if you have any inclination to do the job yourself, go for it! Read, read...

DIY IG rehab, cement walls, vinyl liner - Pool Filled!!

It doesn't looks like we got much done, but it was a lot of work to pull the pavers up again to regrade the new sand. They are definitely sitting much flatter and more even now. We also poured the concrete collar around the lip of the stairs, and we test fit the coping pavers around the...

Liner source / vendor recommendation for new pool Urgent!

Re: Liner source / vendor recommendation for new pool Urgent I purchased my liner and wall foam from royal. It took roughly 8 days or so for them to fabricate the liner, and a couple days to ship. I think I had it in two weeks or shortly thereafter. I also ordered my aluminum liner track...

Newbie digging a hole today! Main drain question

Having grown up with a IGP without a main drain, I was very pleased to see that the pool in our new house had a main drain. Its very useful to have.

Pavers right to pool edge instead of coping

What are your pool walls made of? If theyre poured cement, I dont think youll have any problem mortaring pavers down in a soldiers course fashion. If you have a safety cover, make sure teh anchors are very secure, and not relying on the pavers to hold them in, otherwise you may pop the mortar...
