    Crack in inline chlorinator

We were losing a lot of water...I figured out this afternoon that it's spewing from a crack in the bottom piping of my inline chlorinator. So...the question of the hour...do I replace the chlorinator, or do I remove it and go strictly with bleach to chlorinate the pool? I suppose I could...

Test results from 3 pool stores different...who to believe??

I performed my own personal experiment this afternoon...there are three pool stores within a mile of my house, all on the same road. So, I brought a water sample to all three. Here are their different results, from their computer printouts:  Store 1: FC: 4.3 TC: 4.2 CC: -0.1 pH: 7.6...

    Safe, fun pool games?

I'm on the lookout for safe, fun pool games for the kids (or even adults) to play, preferably ones that don't need any specialized equipment. Balls & pool noodles are about as far into "equipment" as I want to go. We do have a diving board, so one of the games they play is "everyone copy my...

    Swimming lessons for kids

Our local YMCA offers a Backyard Pool Program, where they'll come and give you lessons in your own pool. You don't have to be a YMCA member for this program (although members get a lower rate), and it was one price for up to 6 students. I signed my kids up, and my SIL brought her two kids over...

    Polaris 280 stopped working...

OK...here's what we did: We took our garden hose with a pretty strong jet nozzle, and shot water into the pool wall return where the Polaris attaches. We did that for probably about a minute, and it's been working ever since. I don't know if there was an air pocket, or some other type of...

    Polaris 280 stopped working...

Well, it's worked a few times since I posted, but there's nothing that I've done that made it work...it works when it wants to, it seems. I did verify that if no water is coming out of the connection in the pool wall, the Polaris won't work. So, I think there must be a blockage somewhere in...

    Polaris 280 stopped working...

It ran fine yesterday; this morning I attached it to the wall, put it into the pool, and turned the pump motor on. (The pool filter pump was already on. It sounds like the motor is turning on, but nothing else happens. I seem to remember that if the pool filter is turned on when the Polaris...

    Intex SWG

We used one for the past two years with our Intex "bubble pool," and I loved it. The longer it's turned on, the more chlorine it pumps in. I generally ran it for about 2 hours per day, but if the chlorine levels were low, I'd turn it on for longer. Rhoda

    Water keeps getting cloudy

I was thinking pollen as well...my pool was cloudy for a day or two before I figured out what it was. Do you have "socks" in your skimmer basket? I just bought a pack this afternoon, but for the past two weeks, I've been using (don't laugh) pieces of an old pair of pantyhose...I couldn't...

    drumr

Hi! My husband is the drummer on our church's worship team. (I'm the violinist.) He plays an acoustic set at church, and he has a Hart electronic set here with a Yamaha TD-8. He's planning to get an electronic set at church as well...the toms on the set there are awful. Our kids play...

    Godiva

Ha! I just gave my oldest son my stash of Dove dark chocolate miniatures to hide from me...I was going through them a bit too fast. I told him he's allowed to give me 5 pieces a day. (He only likes milk chocolate, so I figured they're safe with him!)

Help! IG vinyl liner separating from top

YAY...I fixed it! The sun finally got over to shine directly on that part of the liner, and I was able to pop it back on. Now, where's the "hands clapping" smiley?! edit :goodjob: :whoot:

    Godiva

Hi all! We moved into a new home in February...one that has a beautiful inground vinyl pool. Having never owned a "real" pool before (we've had an EasySet pool for the past 2 summers), this has been quite a learning experience. We had it opened about a week and a half ago, and have already...
