Hayward EcoStar SP3400VSP Pump Stalled Error

I ended up buying a new drive controller off of Amazon for ~$560 and installing it myself. Amazingly, I was able to get it overnighted to me for $5, which I needed since I was going out of the country just a few days after the pump died. Swapping the drive controller out isn't too hard, in and...

Hayward EcoStar SP3400VSP Pump Stalled Error

At the moment, no, but I have just started looking into it. I have been reading up on the Intermatic PS3000, however it's not immediately clear to me if I install this at my main panel where the breaker is or at the pool equipment control panel (I have a Jandy Aqualink). I've also been reading...

Hayward EcoStar SP3400VSP Pump Stalled Error

I have a little bit of a time problem, and, with spring basically here in full force in Central Texas, I don't think I can afford to let the pool sit ideal for a couple of weeks. So I just bit the bullet and went ahead and bought the drive controller off of Amazon for delivery tomorrow. If it...

Hayward EcoStar SP3400VSP Pump Stalled Error

I have a Hayward EcoStar SP3400VSP and this morning I discovered that it wasn't running and displaying the "Pump Stalled Error!" I had this same error in October 2014 and had the motor drive replaced by Hayward with me paying for the labor to install the drive. I'm hoping that the Hayward Pool...

    Help! Pump abruptly stopped working

It turned out to be the motor drive had failed (I'm guessing the PWM control in the inverter). Thankfully, Hayward stood behind their product and replaced the drive under warranty even though I'm the second owner. I just had to pay the service call for installation by an authorized tech. It took...

First time pool owner, so many questions!

I'm considering a couple of options, including a mesh cover with anchors, but I like the idea of having access to the hot tub in the winter. So, something that's easy to remove enough to expose that would be my preference. I'm also concerned about the Live Oak pollen in the spring. One of my...

First time pool owner, so many questions!

Welcome and hello from a fellow Austinite. I too just bought my house this past summer and inherited a pool in the process. I also paid someone briefly to maintain the pool while I got my feet underneath me. The previous owner had relied on water testing at the nearest Leslie's and used...

    Help! Pump abruptly stopped working

That was my initial thought. I drained the pump and used an inspection mirror to look inside the impeller housing but didn't see anything. In that thread you linked to, his problem wasn't resolved until the pump was replaced - with a possible motor winding as the culprit since the motor drive...

    Help! Pump abruptly stopped working

The motor drive control definitely has power, as that is where the LCD is located that is displaying the error message and it's attached directly to the pump itself. Also, the pump makes a sound as if the motor is trying to start.

    Help! Pump abruptly stopped working

I have a Hayward EcoStar SP3400VSP pump that abruptly stopped working this evening. I was outside cleaning leaves out of the pool and everything was running fine, then it just stopped. I went to look at the control panel and it has an error on it that says: Drive Error! Pump has stalled. I...

Non-Closing, Covering Pool Techniques For Warm Weather TFPers

As a new pool owner, I'm interested in any suggestions on this topic also. I live in Austin, and it usually only freezes here a few times per winter and rarely are the freezes that hard. My biggest concern is keeping leaves and acorns (by the hundreds) out of the pool as well along avoiding the...

Need help with IG pool maintence and management. Algae growth continuous

Bleach itself is basic. It's pH is ~12-13. http://www.bioworldusa.com/ph/household-bleach The resulting hypochlorus acid that peforms the sanitation action is acidic. http://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/84286-Creating-Hypochlorous-Acid-%28HOCl%29

Need help with IG pool maintence and management. Algae growth continuous

I'm not sure if you come across this or not, but when you SLAM your pool, you PH readings won't be correct at high FC levels. You'll need to finish the SLAM process and once you chlorine has drifted down to the maintenance level you can perform your PH check. Note that bleach is basic, so it...

Need help with IG pool maintence and management. Algae growth continuous

Brian, Your FC at 0 is a recipe for immediate algae. You need to keep that number up around 6 or so (use the pool math calculator). CYA looks pretty good, but TA is a little bit low. Given that you have algae blooms, you should probably consider putting your pool through the SLAM process to...

I just read about that today. I will be doing that test soon.
