    Slam/ Algae question

Had my pump down a few days for service and got some algae. This is the first year using my Taylor kit and slam process. When I opened the pool, everything went fine and had no OCL and let the pool return to normal. For this recent algae, which seemed yellow to me, I used the CYA/ FC chart to...

    Stripped drain plug

Drew. Thanks for the response. I bought a new Hayward drain plug and after trying to install that, that’s when it wouldn’t thread and I discovered the housing threads were cross threaded. The only plug that now fits(albeit loosely) is the original drain plug.

    Stripped drain plug

Hi all. Hayward pump basket has a leak on the drain plug on the side near impeller. Pool store can’t look at the housing for 3 weeks. When you turn the plug it gets close to tight tension but then just spins. Trying to avoid the expense of a new housing and pool downtime. Questions; 1. Can I...

    New to TFP pool chemistry

Hi all, Finally got my FAS-DPD chemistry but with 13 out of 14 days of rain lately, I am just doing my first TFP SLAM. The CYA was at 38 and the pool had algae before I began the slam. The 38 on CYA indicated a FC shock PPM of 15. Here is the most recent test: FC 15 (using FAS-DPD) CC 2...

    New to TFP pool chemistry

Hi all, Although I have owned this pool for many years I have read pool school and I am in the middle of converting out of pool store chemistry and into the TFP way of doing things. I had an algae problem and I used Cal Hypo to slam it. I brought the FC to 15 and held it there for two days...

    Pool Plumbing Mystery

Jim, You mentioned earlier that the skimmer black poly line could have debris stuck in it. I know Home Depot sells a thing called a drain king that seals the pipe and sends pressurized water thru the pipe. Could this be used and would you put it in the pump or skimmer? I also don't want to...

Keith, Thank you. Above ground suction side plumbing is the cheap out if that is the problem. Thanks Tom

    Pool Plumbing Mystery

Jim, Thanks for the ideas. In response to your suggestions: 1. When I switch the filter to recirculate, the gauge pressure fluctuates wildly between 0 and 9 with tons of air in the pump basket. Is this a MPV issue? It wouldn't seem that way as the MPV is the pressure side of the system and air...
