    Solar paused pump alarm

All this means is the roof sensor is warmer than the water sensor and the controller thinks it can heat the pool, but it senses the pump is not running. Most of the time this is a non-issue. When the pump starts the error will clear and the solar will come on.

Dialing in VS Pump RPMs when running solar

The VRV should really be at the highest point, but if the manufacturer allows it in their installation manual, it can be located elsewhere like you suggest. If you do place it on the lower header, I suggest placing it as close as possible to the return line, i.e. at the opposite end from the...

You want no bubbles after the air is purged. There are a lot of factors. The panel brand/type makes a pretty big difference. I don't know what panels you have, but some brands will require higher flow rates. The location of the VRV can also be a factor. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk

Height doesn't have as much effect as you might think. The water has to come back down, which creates somewhat of a siphon effect. As long as the vacuum relief stays closed, the extra height has a much smaller effect than the feet of head from extra lift. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using...

Dialing in VS Pump RPMs when running solar

They're not paying your electric bill! I'd never tell my client a standard speed. Every pool is different. 2,000 - 2,400 works for most pools, but we use a panel with very low flow resistance. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk

Clean filter thoroughly. Back speed off until you get champagne bubbles. Then add 200 rpm to account for the filter getting dirty. An experienced installer with the right check valve can tell if flow is adequate by looking at the flapper. The bubble method works well in practice also. Sent...

I think I have the start of Black Algae - Black spots on bottom of the pool

You mean the lazy way that worked like a charm? Yes, trichlor. The spots were at the end of a swim lane that gets poor circulation because of the pool design. I turned the pump off and used a healthy dose sprinkled right over the area with the spots. 8 hours later I started the pump back up and...

    Best Brand of Chlorinator

The cell has an integrated flow sensor. It will tell you if flow is insufficient. You only need to worry about flow if it is between 80 and 120 GPM, in which a bypass is recommended to reduce flow to the desired range. That would be a really high flow rate for a typical residential pool, at...

Yes 1% increments (probably not necessary to get that granular) and get the 011055 Intelliflo VST 2 (rotatable display, 3 year warranty when purchased and installed by a pro). Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk

    Best Brand of Chlorinator

Absolutely good advice. Depending on where you live, an IC40 might fall short at times in terms of chlorine generation even at 100% output. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk

    Best Brand of Chlorinator

True, it's pretty easy, but the interface on the cell is easier to change and monitor. And 20% seems adequate to me unless you have a very small pool and very large chlorinator. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk

How often are you'll adding salt?

56 inches per year here. 600 sq ft pool. Lots of overflow. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk

How often are you'll adding salt?

That all depends. Warm, dry, windy weather can cause 2 inches a week. On the other hand, it could be a leak. Time for the bucket test. Then maybe a pro. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
