@Richard320, That explains it nicely and obviously cya is being added. Since I posted I have taken the top off the filter and wow, I will definately be doing a water hose in the sandfilter yearly from now on. Thanks a bunch guys

@Bama Rambler, pwrstrk, I assumed the 99% trichlor with 1% other meant no additional cya. Some say 40% other I think. Maybe that was the wrong assumption. If its not possible to do it with that I guess its back to BBB, In any case I think last year cya was around 80 and didn't have a problem...

Is there any harm in occasional shocking with regular shock from walmart while using the BBB method as a matter of convenience. SHould you let your chlorine level dissipate before using a different form of chlorine in the pool.

Filter pressure is at or below the start level, no where near clean filter level. It may be less than normal, Mainly the flow output at the return is less. Usually I have a good solid push of water out the return and the fountain is spraying at least a foot in the air. (I have the combo return...

My pressure output from return is less than it used to be. It seems to be better after being off for a while. The pressure reading is at the start indicator and I have backwashed just to be sure. The basket in the pump is clear. WHat could cause this kind of behavior. Thanks

Duraleigh, thanks for the advice. My TA is 85 and PH is 7.5. I have direct sun on my pool all day, do you think I would still benefit from reducing my CYA, I know the chlorine would be more effective at 50-60. I try to run the pump when I get home and turn it off when settling in for the night...

Will the FC ever get ahead of the Algae if your maintaining the recommended level of chlorine ppm? I am not talking green pool. Pool is clear but .5 to 1 loss overnight. NO CC's. Is this amount of unseen Algae an issue for swimmers?
