we used our well water in South Texas (no choice where we are) and have not had a problem getting our water balanced, but I suppose it depends on what is actually in your water. I'd say have it tested and then decide.

okay, decided to check my tap water with the strips JUST to get an idea, even if it isn't as accurate as a kit will be & here is what I found: pH 7.2, FC 0.5, TA 240 (highest on the strip) & stabilizer (is this CYA?) 30-50

they just gave me test strips, guess I need to get a kit before adding chemicals since I have no idea what is in my well water. I will report back ASAP to get opinions. Thanks!
