    Freeze/thaw proof waterline tile sources?

I've seen problems with tiles popping off. I started at TPF since I own a pool in Los Angeles, but right now I'm designing pools in Nashville as part of an apartment building. Here in LA I've seen tiles popping off not due to freezing but, as a GC told me, due to the fabric mesh...

    Freeze/thaw proof waterline tile sources?

Hi, we're looking for sources for freeze/thaw proof waterline tile for an apartment complex pool in Nashville that is under construction. We've been told that Oceanside Glass (Carlsbad, CA) and Classic Pool Tile (Atlanta, GA) work in Nashville. Any other sources we might look at the can...

Stains from dirt getting in pool

Quick update and request for advice here... I used the stainless steel brush with no luck. The stain is just too stubborn. Someone recommended putting down a layer of chlorine granules on the effected areas and letting it sit for a while to remove the stain. I did notice that wherever I had put...

Stains from dirt getting in pool

Thank you. That's exactly what I need. That will take the stain off in a jiffy. I woke up this morning and thought, "aluminum". Glad to know they do them in stainless. I appreciate your help.

Stains from dirt getting in pool

Okay. Will do. Thanks. If elevating the chlorine levels doesn't work (it's pretty stubborn staining), is there any issue with using a hard bristle wood block scrub brush? Something non ferrous.

Stains from dirt getting in pool

Okay... long delay there. I finally got around to buying a tri-chlor puck from Lowe's. It did lighten the stain but only after it was left there overnight. Should I continue to the vitamin C test or is it conclusive with the tri-chlor? Thanks.

Are these pool pipes deep enough??

To the inside edge of coping it is 22'-8" x 12'-0". The coping is 1'-2" on all sides. Pool is average 5 feet deep. It feels just fine in our urban site in Los Angeles. Easy to heat in the summer. Actually, with a grey pool cover, it averages about 78 degrees in the summer with no heating. I...

Are these pool pipes deep enough??

Yes... I wish there was a way to cut the pipe and quickly install a riser pipe so the outlet is above the water level. Or plug the skimmer, returns and the pipe that goes through the salt water cell. That sits up a few feet higher than the water level. I hate to throw away 20% of my water in a...

Are these pool pipes deep enough??

There is only room to put a few inches of compacted dirt and sand/gravel/stepping stones on top. Not a lot of depth for all that. You can see the broken up pavers that were removed in the background of the image. For some reason, they poured the pavers 8" thick right on top of the PVC pipes. The...

Are these pool pipes deep enough??

We put in a new deck and took out some of the concrete pavers that used to surround parts of the pool. After jackhammering the pavers out, we discovered that the pool pipes sit about 10" below the top of coping (the smaller PVC pipes are sprinklers). Thankfully my construction helpers were very...

Stains from dirt getting in pool

Chris B., Thanks so much for the offer. I'd love to take you up on it but I am absolutely slammed at work right now, so Downey is a bit far for me. The $30 for pucks here in Culver City might be cheaper than the gas to Downey. Once I'm done testing, I'll let you know and maybe you could come...

Stains from dirt getting in pool

I'm in Culver City. I don't know any neighbors with a pool or I would ask them.

Stains from dirt getting in pool

Is there a place I can order less than $30 of tri-chlor pucks? My local supply places only have 5 gallon buckets for $30 or 10 gallon for $63. Or am I being too cheap:confused:

Thanks Dave S. I will try the tri-chlor puck and vitamin C and post back. Thanks again.
