    Chlorine costs

Sadly after calling all the pool supply places here in Vegas, none sell bulk refillable chlorine. Leslie's seems to have the best price I can find 12.5% 4 1 gallon for $13.56/$3.39 gallon. Last I bought was 2 1 gallon 10% for $7.88/$3.94 gallon. How do these prices compare or does anyone know of...

    Chlorine/CYA ratio

Does the chlorine/Cya ratio adjust after adding borates? Can I run a lower fc?

    Almost ready for Borates!

Ok 3 days after here are the numbers: FC: 5 PH: 7.4 TA: 80 Borates: 65? not sure if I'm reading the sticks right. I bought the Lamotte test strips as suggested. It's definately darker in colr then the 50 mark but not as dark as the 80. Is this bad if they are higher? Not sure how I ended up...

    Almost ready for Borates!

14 boxes of 20 mule team borax and 4 gallons of MA went in yesterday! Already looks nicer. Is it ok to put the solar cover back on?

Tested my fill water out of curiosity

On the tile I used the toilet bowl pumice stones. Just enough grit without being too strong so it didn't scratch and lot's of time and elbow grease. Took around 3 days with my wife and I both working on it. Then after the bulk was off I mixed a heavy duty spray bottle with about 15% MA 85% water...

    Almost ready for Borates!

It's definately taken some time but will hopefully be well worth it. Can't wait to get it done. Then just have to get the cover back on so it'll be warm enough to swim in!

Tested my fill water out of curiosity

After all the work I've been putting in trying to "master" this pool thing I thought I'd test my fill water and see what the numbers were. Tested from the spigot where my Anti-Siphon is for the autofill FC: .5 PH: >8.0 TA: 140 CH: 240 Do these numbers seem about right? Living in southern...

help with adding borax to pool

I had a TA of 240 and have been cycling for almost a month. My TA is 80 as of today. Hopefully by the end of the week it'll be ready to add borates! Everything I've read strongly suggests getting your TA down before the addition of borates cause it will be a much longer process after due to the...

    Testing affected by high FC

I've read that PH readings can be affected during the shock process and high FC numbers. How high does the FC need to be to start affecting the readings? Also what other readings can be thrown off due to other high levels?

    Pump cycles

Guess I'll head to the pool store tomorrow and pick up a couple more on/off trips. Have a mechanical timer. Thanks

    Pump cycles

Would there be any benefit or disadvantage to running the pump on two 6 hour cycles. Say from noon to 6pm and then from midnight to 6 am? Or would a straight twelve hour run be better?

    Is it ok to wait?

Thanks for the replies. I think for know I'm gonna try to go with a partial drain by way of pump to waste and watering the little bit of grass I have. I noticed my CH had dropped from my first full test about a month ago from 1025 to 875 and I had let the water drop about 3-4 inches and refilled.

    Is it ok to wait?

Don't know why my signature didn't show. 18,500 IG plaster on autofill from tatto water. Don't have the numbers from when I tested the tap water, but they were acceptable. We do have calcium build up ob the shower heads and such though. Would installing a whole house water softener and filter help?
