I actually thought of draining the pool and replacing the rusted lengths of pipe with Bestway replacements. But what if there's rust elsewhere? What if, as you say, I end up spending too much on replacement parts? I doubt they'll be covered by warranty, but I've emailed the situation to Bestway...
