Using pump's running status as safety shutoff for chlorinator

I think I can use the that automation interface adapter, and trigger when the schedule of the pump would turn on using something like the Sonoff switch Sonoff 4CH Pro R2 Wi-Fi Smart Switch 4-Gang Din Rail Mounting Home Automation, Self-Locking/Interlock Control Home Appliances, Compatible with...

Using pump's running status as safety shutoff for chlorinator

The question is how to control the cell power with the pump's onboard electric timer/schedule. If this was a single speed pump that I was running with some external timer, then yea I'd control the cell with the same timer. The pump has an Automation Adapter...

Using pump's running status as safety shutoff for chlorinator

Ok, but then again my question still stands about pump shutting swg off when not running, to act as secondary backup.

Though by same logic if the flow switch fails same happens.

Using pump's running status as safety shutoff for chlorinator

I recently purchased the CircuPool SmartFlo 3HP variable speed pump, along with RJ60 Chlorinator. I was looking forward to running longer on slower speeds, but soon realized that I'm now bound by the minimum that will keep the flow switch engaged. On a new DE charge, everything will work fine at...

    Sizing SWG for 60k gal

I went with CircuPool SmartFlo® Variable Speed Pool Pump - 3.0 THP. Price with bundle was attractive. However the fact that it has onboard schedule, but no relay switch of some kind as safety for heater for example, is a bit frustrating.

Was going to look at that next. I thought the pump has a scheduler, so thought it would replace the timer as well. Should I still go through timer either way?

    Sizing SWG for 60k gal

Pulled the trigger on the rj-60 + 3hp pump, and if it struggles I'll add an extra rj-30. There was a discount on the package so in the end don't think i'll loose much over 2x45+pump

    Sizing SWG for 60k gal

It was built as a residential. And based on my neighbor's accounts, it was because the owner wanted to one-up that neighbor's 20x40 pool, lol.

    Sizing SWG for 60k gal

Back to my original question; I just realized I can try going rj60 and if it struggles I can get a second rj30. I'll loose maybe 150$ vs going two rj-45 right away but at least I'll have a chance to see how it does on its own. There shouldn't be any issue with running 2 different rated cells...

    Sizing SWG for 60k gal

Interesting regarding fed regulation. I wonder if that will affect pump prices. l1ltaral1l, no I didn't build the pool. It's nothing special, just a rectangle with the deep end being like 11' and shallow end 5' iirc. Kind of dumb in my opinion because it's not kid friendly at all. Too much...

Thanks Marty for throwing an extra variable into the mix :) My pump is only 4 seasons old, so I didn't consider replacing it. But now I'm looking into it.

    Sizing SWG for 60k gal

I have a single speed pump, so I'd like to run it least as possible, ~8hrs. Also not sure why you say either Rj-60 or IC-60 when their ratings are so far apart. 3.1 vs 2 lbs/day. Is the rating not an accurate comparison between brands?

    Sizing SWG for 60k gal

I have 60k gal pool. I'm in north NJ, so not a long hot season. I'm thinking of converting to SWG and weighing my options for equipment. Being at 60k and seeing advice to oversize puts me at having to buy 2x40 units. I started paying attention to the lbs/day here, and now wondering if perhaps...
