TFP works great when I'm NOT logged in, but doesn't work as expected when I am logged in.

Very odd. Doesn't work in Firefox either. Anything else I should try???

My previous pool needed to be replaced a several years ago so I haven't logged in for a while. I finally got my new pool built and thought I'd catch up on what I may have forgotten, or at least to reads some of the new stuff. Before I found my old login credentials, I poked around a little...

    I want BLUE water!!!

If you had read Pool School, you would have seen this... You can read the rest here... pool-school/defeating_algae Not a tough problem, but it will take a few days. Good luck.

New pool - 5 weeks into it

Sounds like you're definitely on the right track.... you've got a good test kit, you're asking for advice before problems start, and you've got clear water. With 0 CYA, chlorine won't stick around too long in the sun, so it's probably a good idea to test your FC level at least daily, making...

Solar blanket / cover - OK to leave on for 3 days?

Ours only comes off when we swim. Depending on the weather it may stay on for a week or more. With the cover on, we'll only lose 2 or 3 degrees F on a cool night (lately 12-15C overnight) and may gain 5 or 6F during a sunny day with 3 - 2'x20' solar panels. Sunday morning 67F, Sunday evening...

    Red eyes!?!?

Is there a 'perfect' pH for comfy eyes? I would guess the the 7.4 - 7.6 reported should be pretty close to the pH of normal tears, but I haven't been able to find a definitive answer.

    Leaving pool up for winter

    That makes sense. Thanks.

How I spent my summer or thanks to my friends at TFP

Agreed. Once it's clear, as long as the FC level stays where it should be, weekly shocking shouldn't be necessary. That said, if you're happy with shocking once a week, and it's working for you, there is probably no reason to change. The only thing it may save you is a couple of bucks...

    Leaving pool up for winter

I just stumbled across this post and have wondered the same thing... In the past, I've drained down below the return (~1/2 depth), AND have removed the hose from the back of the eyeball. I've wondered about pulling the eyeball and replacing it with a plug, but have never tried it. Is there...

Intex 1000 GPH pump vs. 2500 GPH is like night and day

Completely off topic, but I've never heard the term 'Jump the Shark' used to mean 'take the plunge'. The phrase is usually used to describe a moment when something that was once great has reached a point where it will now decline in quality and popularity. Origin of this phrase comes from a...

    Closing and preserving the pool

I'll be watching this thread as I've had similar questions. In the past, I've kept the pool running until after the first frost. When it looks like it will get cold enough to freeze, I let the pump run 24 hours a day including through the solar panels to make sure they don't freeze. Once I...

    Natural Gas hose????

Natural gas BBQs usually come with the appropriate hose and quick coupling you need to connect to the line. If your's is used, you can likely use a quick google search to find the manufacturer's part number of a replacement. Generally though, any good BBQ store should be able to 'hook you...

Best Time Of Day To Add Bleach? And Why Is It The Best Time?

Re: When Is The Best Time Of Day To Add Bleach? Best time is either after sunset, or when you need it. I'll explain.... Bleach doesn't lose concentration overnight unless it has something to work on. In fact, a good way to tell if your pool is in good shape is to do an overnight chlorine...
