    SWG Question?

I installed mine three years ago,and without reading instructions completely, did a horizontal installation. I use a piece of wood to support end where hose is attached, which also keeps slight upward angle for unit. Anyway, it has worked fine for me, so now I'm reluctant to change. Good luck!

Surface Debris and Pollen not being skimmed - Intex + Hayward Pump + Hayward Skimmer

You don't mention if you have a skimmer with basket, but many members cover their basket with hair nets or paint bag filters. I use the paint bag which has been very effective at catching much of the debris and slime that floats in the pool. The only thing is at this time of year, with all the...

Ok to leave plastic pool steps outside during winter or keep in garage?

-My steps have rails that can be removed. Then by laying steps unit down, the water runs out and most sand remains for the next season.I store the unit in a shed, but would probably be ok outside.

    Need plans for deck

I had an existing deck from the rear of my house, and installed the pool about four feet from that deck. Then I went on Lowes web site, where they have a 'design your own' deck plans. It's a program where you fit in your dimensions and the style you want, and the program will set up a drawing of...

    Forget filter socks!

I started using the paint strainer bags after moderator Richard passed the idea to me. It not only helps in the cleaning of the debris, but I think I solved why I've been getting the brown sand particles(or 'dead algae', as some describe it). When I remove it each morning, I shake off the bugs...

    Low pump flow

Maybe you haven't used the relief valve to release air bubbles in the water line from the pump?

    Suggestions to weigh down ladder

I put in the same set of steps a couple months ago, and did pour in about 15lbs of sand, but then went to Walmart and bought a plastic liquid holder with screw on top.($1.98)' I guess it would hold a gal of liquid, but I filled it with sand. Then after screwing lid on, attached to bottom of...

    cleaning pre-filter

-Ok, Richard, appreciate the speedy reply. Yes, I do have a basket in my skimmer, and some paint strainers, so will give that a try. And will search for a good fitting plug(instead of a carrot! Ha!) Thanks for the answers.

    cleaning pre-filter

-I just installed my ag pool in April, and thanks to the guidance I received on this site, pretty much everything is looking ok. However, before my pentair pump there is a filter that the manual states is for hair, leaves and I guess other larger particles. They also state that it should be...

Any further recs on pool with Perma Salt system?

I really just found out about this system due to using the TF100 test kit a couple days ago. They only recommend a 40 lb bag of salt, which is a long way from the 3000 value suggested with the TF100. Then I read where they don't process chlorine from their salt cell, only copper and silver. That...

Any further recs on pool with Perma Salt system?

We just installed our AG pool with a Perma Salt system, and since I'm new to this site, I just came across the posting of 2011 about the Perma Salt system. Is there any concensus about the best way for me to handle this, since TFPC obviously does not approve of this method. In other words...

positioning pump and filter for new pool

Yesterday my contractor came to grade out for my AG pool. In the process he wanted to know where I wanted the pump located, and I pointed out the area, which is on the uphill side of pool, closest to my electrical source. Then he mentioned he would have to dig out a slot for the equipment...

    Hi all,

Although I'm 73 yrs old, I'll be a newbie to having a pool installed this Spring.(AG) I retired early 1990s to Florida on my boat, so did a lot of swimming in the ocean and other salty waters. Then we bought a home in SW Florida to tie up the boat and I did some 'house sitting' during the summer...
