My Chlorine Only cylinder is stained with many black spots from using the DPD powder. I have tried washing the cylinder with very minimal results. It is getting to the point that I can barely see the markings of the cylinder. Why is this happening and what can I do short of buying a new one...

The water is pretty and clear..has been actually. My reading are staying steady. CC is still 0. I notice less of the dead algae (brown powdery stuff). We are having a graduation party Saturday and so far so good. Thanks for the support. This is 1 reason I love this site.

We also purchased an auto chlorinator when we purchased our pool. We thought it a great thing...however, after a couple years of using those pucks, our cya level was 100+ and the chlorine was just not doing its job. The higher the cya, the higher the level of FC is needed. You will save money...

I feel the same! Lol... I was at a cookout last weekend and explaining the BBB method to the homeowner (and IG poolowner). When I told her I put bleach in my pool, she said I should stop using bleach and buy chlorine... Lolol :brickwall: ...I tried to explain but it fell on deaf ears.

Very similar here. I lose about 2 ppm per day since it has started getting warmer. Typically, I add about 24 oz of bleach every other day. I like to keep it around 7ppm. I don't want to risk getting algae again...after a year like last year.
