    Looking for some help...

I strongly recommend getting the CYA level down. Last summer was my first time owning a pool. I used nothing but CL tablets for the first few months. By midsummer, I was battling algae blooms every week. I went to Pool School here, bought the TF100 kit, and measured my CYA to be around 90...

Can I have algae growth without CC?

Oh, and even though the recommendation here is that phosphates dont matter, I went ahead and added Phos Free since I had it sitting on the shelf. Bought it and a bunch of other stuff before I went to Pool School.

Can I have algae growth without CC?

Pollen and dirt sounds like a good possibility. It has been really windy the past 3 days so a lot of leaves and debris have fallen in the pool, especially bay leaves with a sticky residue. I've skimmed and brushed every evening, but I'm sure plenty of junk is getting into the water. I dont...

Can I have algae growth without CC?

I have a similar situation. FC 6 CC 0 CYA 50 PH 7.2 Water has turned slightly green the past few days, with some green deposits on my steps. Overnight FC test shows no noticeable drop, and CC remains between 0 to 0.5. Test results were taken with a TF100 kit I bought last week. To be safe...

Balanced pool causing itchiness? could it be...

I'm fairly new to this myself, having owned/maintained a pool for only 6 months. But some thoughts are: - FC 5 is on the low end for CYA 70. See the CL / CYA chart: pool-school/chlorine_cya_chart_shock - Did the itchiness occur to only 1 guest as you stated? Maybe that person has sensitive...

Dumb questions - Why pool store / product advice different?

Maybe I should rephrase my last paragraph... If you dont want to spend a day or two at Pool School to get educated, and would rather throw money at the problem, then follow the pool store method or hire a service. Just be prepared to pay for as long as you own a pool. Personally, I'm...

Dumb questions - Why pool store / product advice different?

First time ever owning a pool this year. I used nothing but trichlor tabs for the first 6 months. When I had my first algae bloom, Cal Hypo shock worked great and cleared it up within 8 hours. Month later, another algae bloom and I had to shock it for 2 days to clear it up. Two more weeks go...

    Safe to swim w/ FC > 10ppm?

Overnight Test: FC night 8, morning 7.25 CC night 0.5, morning 0.25 I tested twice in the morning and averaged the two, which is why I have the ".25" granularity. Looks like the pool is OK... now if only the weather would warm up again. Thanks everyone!

    Safe to swim w/ FC > 10ppm?

High CH probably due to the Cal Hypo shock. I'll stick w/ bleach for now. OK, I'll check out my overnight FC loss and get the CC down. Thanks for your help.

    Safe to swim w/ FC > 10ppm?

Here are the results from the TF-100 kit: FC 9.5 CC 1 TC 10.5 PH 7.2 TA 90 CH 530 CYA 50 FC of 9.5 is a bit high for CYA of 50, but is well below recommended shock level of 20. Should be OK to swim, right? I welcome any and all feedback. Thanks!

    Safe to swim w/ FC > 10ppm?

First time owning a pool this year, and it's been very educational! Thank you TFP Pool School! Short story: Do I understand this chart correctly... if the CYA level is 90 or above for a non-SWG pool, it's safe to swim with FC at 10ppm? pool-school/chlorine_cya_chart_shock Long story: Made the...

    Polaris getting stuck behind ladder

I have the same problem with my 280 getting stuck on the ladder in the deep end. Anyone have a photo of the G21 ladder guard installed? Curious to see what it looks like.
