    Auto pilot low cell volts

Could be a sign that the cell is scaled or it needs replaced. How old is the cell? If you have your manual, p. 29 talks about inspecting/cleaning. Here's a link to the manual if you don't have yours: http://autopilot.com/images/pdfs/digital_manual.pdf

Staining around screwheads; I'm assuming this is rust??

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone! This got me thinking about the hardware used to tighten in the ladder and handrails. With all of the splashout in those areas, would it be a good idea to remove the bolts and replace them with higher quality ones as well?

Staining around screwheads; I'm assuming this is rust??

Thanks for all the info! I'll see if I can find any make/model info in the paperwork and go from there. If not, I'll take one out and head to Lowe's to at least verify size/length, and order something online if I have to. I'm assuming the same is true for the bolts in the steps. I'll have to...

Staining around screwheads; I'm assuming this is rust??

Thanks for the reply, JN. Would it be safe to take one of the screws out and take it with me to Lowe's to match it up? I know they keep the faceplate sealed, but I wouldn't think taking one out would make a difference. I also assume I might as well replace all of them (one at a time) to...

Staining around screwheads; I'm assuming this is rust??

I converted to a SWG last summer and have noticed a few of these stains on around my skimmers, as well as around the bolts that hold the rungs onto the ladder. I'm assuming it's rust (even though these screws aren't supposed to rust). Is the simple solution to purchase higher-quality screws...

    Replacement Model

Ok, after talking to Pentair, I can replace the existing motor (Part # A100ELL) and shaft seal for around $200. They said if I wanted to go with a 2-speed motor, I should replace the entire unit (which would include rerouting some plumbing). They said the Whisper Flow 011486 is what I would...

    Replacement Model

Thanks for all of the quick replies. I checked out the manual, and it walked through the process of replacing the impeller, etc, so I went through that to see what I could see internally. Turns out I must've had a leak going on for a while, because there is a lot of corrosion and rust and the...

    Replacement Model

I just started to open my pool and when I went to turn on my pump, I got a hum, and then nothing. It sounded for a second like the impeller was trying to move, but it never did. the housing was hot to the touch after only a few seconds. The pump was installed in 2008, so while I continue to...

    Filter Upgrade Benefits?

Agent99, I took your advice and contacted Pentair. They did confirm that the S7M120 and the S7M400 can interchange filters. So for about $100 or so more, I can get upgrade to 400 sqft of filter area. Thanks for the idea!

    Filter Upgrade Benefits?

Kimkats, the water is normally crystal clear, although this year I am getting a lot of silt along the bottom, which is why I think it's time to replace. I normally clean them out 2-3 times a season and everything is fine. I just wasn't sure if the cartridge life span is shortened because of...

    Filter Upgrade Benefits?

I currently have a StaRite 300 sqft cartridge filter, which I know now is too small for my pool. I am to the point where I need to replace my filters, and I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to upgrade to a larger filter. Other than having to clean my cartridges more often, would there be...
