Turn off SWG when shock pool?

Well, we mostly shocked bc of the rain. This might be a dumb question but shouldn't you shock 1x week anyway?

Turn off SWG when shock pool?

Hi all I am trying to figure out if I should turn off SWG when shocking my pool. Pool was fine and balanced but we had a big rainstorm last night and it's been VERY hot so I shocked this morning. My question is, if I run the filter for 24 hours, should I turn my SWG off for 24 hours as well? In...

    CYA and SLAM

Opened pool 2-3 weeks ago- first time it opened green. Got it clean within a 2-3 days, everything seemed fine but started to notice small amounts of green algae here and there; and off and on slipperiness. And then this past week, we lost 3-4 PPM of chlorine overnight and I knew we had a...

How long until FC comes down after shock/slam?

Wow you have a lot of jets. We have 1 in shallow and 1 in deep- angled right. My husband had them tilted up such that it was creating bubbles on top of water (because he likes the bubbles) but I made him angle them lower... you can still see the flow of water though. I could see how having...

How long until FC comes down after shock/slam?

Yes it does help! That to me makes the most sense- turn off the SWG. My husband is too afraid to let me totally turn off SWG so I have it down to 50% so ours will probably take a little longer to come back down. But now I know it will take a few days to maybe even a week.

How long until FC comes down after shock/slam?

I just went in, the liner is def less slippery- no slipping, "drier" feeling. I am convinced that when the liner is slippery, regardless of numbers and water clarity, there is probably some sort of something going on. Some things in life are a mystery I guess..... :x Thanks for the help!

How long until FC comes down after shock/slam?

Right, right, right... the SWG is doing all the dosing. I forget that people still have to manually add chlorine to their pool. It's the bottom of my pool that is slippery. My neighbor who has the exact same pool, installed at the same time, their liner is not slippery on the bottom so that...

How long until FC comes down after shock/slam?

Ok my CYA is at 50 which is where it was prior to shocking/slamming. I haven't really tested for anything else other than FC/CC which is 15. I know I should have gotten to 20... My pool was actually good number-wise prior to slamming (FC 6, CC 0, CYA 50, TA 90, PH 7.4, CH 80- Running filter...

How long until FC comes down after shock/slam?

I was curious to know how long FC levels stay at slam/shock level- meaning how long does it take to have the FC come back to normal levels? Also, once I passed the OCLT, do I return my SWG back to the levels I had it previously (85%)? In my small little head, I feel like if I turn my SWG back...

Tested water with new Taylor K-2006- help with results

Wonderful. Thank you for the replies! This is def going to take time for me to truly comprehend how all the moving pieces fit together. And yes, my neighbor has a vinyl liner just like ours, installed the same week, and his pool is not slippery at all so that is why I started to become...

Tested water with new Taylor K-2006- help with results

Nevermind- I actually think I figured out the answer to the question myself. I will do an OCLT test this evening after the SWG turns off. That should tell me if I need to SLAM. I think I am FINALLY getting this... or least I feel like I am getting it.

Tested water with new Taylor K-2006- help with results

Ok so I went back and re-did some of the tests just to take out user error since it had been the first time using. Here is what I got consistently: FC 6 CC 0 (no change in color) TC 6 PH 7.6 (just added 2 lbs of dry acid in 1 hour intervals- 1 pd per hour) Alkalinity- 90 CYA 40 Should I still...

Tested water with new Taylor K-2006- help with results

Oh my gosh, I thought of one last thing. What if I have my SWG chlorine output up too high thusly making my FC high? I had it on 85-90%. Should I back off of the percentage before I SLAM to see if that is why my FC and CC is on the high side? Won't SLAMing just make the FC and CC higher...

Ok thank you. Going to read OCLT again. Sooo much information swirling through my brain!! I will catch on soon enough :p
