A whole sentence disappeared. The only way to lower CH is to drain and refill, provided that the water you put in is lower in CH. There are those who manage just fine with high CH by keeping their water balanced.

Brush the corners into the open. It also sounds like your hose to a pole is a good one, but make sure that you don't have sharp edges.

For what it's worth, my coping is in similar shape. My PB replaced the liner track, screwing it underneath the coping. If you don't get an answer in a day or two, I'll give my PB a call about my issue, to help you solve yours.

If I were concerned about Chlorine, I'd not drink tap water, nor maintain my pool, or use my pool, clean my bathrooms, or sport the whitest of white laundry. I do or have all of the above. So no, I'm not concerned. It is rumored that pretty much everything causes cancer. From power lines...

To add to this now that I think about it, to me, it is far easier to have two people on this task.

We rain 3 shop vacs, and babysat the liner around the steps as the water rose. One at the skimmer, one on each side of the shallow end. They're good to go now, with some adjusting and wiggling.
