I also removed the GFCI from my pump and put a normal end on it as it plugs into a GFCI outlet due to this issue.

My basket is lower than my filter output too.. the only difference is that I have mine on the ground and coming up, but with that valve closed the pool water pressure should not be on that line at all, and with no way for air to get in behind I don't know how that water can move at all, because...

Can't answer that one sorry -- I would think that if the return side was shut off at your ball valve there would be a vacuum created there keeping water from returning out the other side. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

You need(ed) to put shut offs when you hard plumbed. I have one on the skimmer side and one on the return side. Shut them both off and pull the lid off the pump strainer basket.

Both the Diver Dave and the manual vacuum I have hook to the skimmer, not directly to the pump. The Intex cleaner (and other cleaners) can use the pressure side inlet to suck debris into the bottom of the unit instead of back into your sand filter.

I have the same pool and a 2800GPH Intex pump and my Diver Dave runs just fine. However, I cut in a Hayward skimmer so I hook Dave's hose right down into the skimmer. Probably not much help other than a 2800 GPH Intex pump is enough to run it. Be careful with vacuuming sand with it though...

?? The pump is before the filter, I'm not sure closing the valve on the filter will do anything, once you pop the cover to the leaf basket the water pressure from the inlet is going to blow water everywhere. Edit: maybe your setup is different than mine though -- but on mine it goes skimmer...

I could be wrong here but I would think the rush of the water is what helps stir up the sand and allow all the captured material to escape. If you restrict it down to a garden hose you will probably lose that volume of water running through to clear the filter. I bought a pump drain hose from...

The pool you have in your signature is about 4000 gallons (14' x 42"). To raise pH from 6.8 to 7.4 you need to add about 40 oz of Borax. THIS WILL ALSO RAISE YOUR TA BY 20. This statement is NOT correct.

Borax raises both PH and TA. The only way to raise PH without also raising TA is aeration.
