Building a Bromide Bank with Sodium Bromide granules

Thanks for all the input, you've made me much more comfortable. James, the Leisure Time bromide looks like exactly what I thought I'd need (and its available in Canada on Amazon.ca) But knowing that I don't need to be overly concerned about building the bank because it essentially will build...

Building a Bromide Bank with Sodium Bromide granules

Thanks Matt. So far I have liked using liquid Bromine. I’m just trying to understand the difference between the liquid and granule sources of Sodium Bromide.

Building a Bromide Bank with Sodium Bromide granules

Thanks for the reply. The Spalife EZ Brom label says 47% Dichlor and 15% Sodium Bromide. The Spalife Shock label says Chlorine Free Oxidizer... For Bromine or Chlorine Sanitizers. It does not have chemical ingredients except in the First Aid warning it states that it contains MPS, no %...

Building a Bromide Bank with Sodium Bromide granules

I have always sanitized my hot tub using the 3-step system described in How do I use Bromine in my spa (or pool)? I used liquid 'Rendezvous Enhance' (35% Sodium Bromide) The instructions were clear that the initial dose was @ 125ml/1000l water. I rarely used the weekly dose of 30ml/1000l and I...

    Leslie’s vs Tayler kit SWG

I assume you have been adding salt to the water recently in prep for your SWG. Salt does take time to dissolve into the water before it registers in a salt test. Was the sample for your home test and the PS test taken at the same time? Or could the home test had more undissolved salt that the...

    Debris Accumulating in Stairs

Thanks for your input. The risk of using it as a step is low. Really only if I have young children over and they lower themselves in or out of the pool especially when people might be sitting on the stairs. But the impact is fairly high so I wanted to see if I could minimize it. My concerns...

    Debris Accumulating in Stairs

My inground pool has built in stairs. I have had an ongoing problem with debris collecting in the stair area. There is only minor improvement when I adjust the position of the eyeballs on the jets. I do not have any jets in the stair, and there is a jet about 2 ft 'upstream' of the stair...

Salt Chlorinator and Chlorine Dispenser on same system

Yes, I keep the feeder full and opened, and I occasionally may add some liquid chlorine if I need to. When the CYA climbs to around 60ppm , I turn on the SWG which has a much lower recommended FC level.

Salt Chlorinator and Chlorine Dispenser on same system

I've always used a chorine puck floater in conjuction with my SWG We had the SWG installed when the pool was built, but I've always 'sat the fence' on its value. Mainly because of the cell costs, the cost of replenishing the stabilizer and salt each year, and the reliability issues I've had...

    Hot Tub Water, way off

Mdragger, Thanks for your reply. I know I screwed up . I couldn't figure why I didn't get a normal range reading be adding either Acid Demand reagants or Base Demand reagants. Only the LaMotte strips provided me a way forward, and then I and I immediately adjusted the TA and pH as you...

    Hot Tub Water, way off

Over Christmas I missed my regular weekly testing twice and now pH is so far off, I don't know where to begin. Taylor drop testing of Bromine indicates about 6ppm, My TA is about 30, but not the 'normal' colour of pink, more orangy My pH is off and I don't know which way to go. The mixed...

Pool is perfect, except morning algae

Hi awj22, I've decided that given I'll be closing in a couple weeks, I'm travelling a bit, so I doubt I'll be swimming much, I need some more FAS-DPD to do the test, and the inconvenience is minor; I 'm just going to let it be. But I know I'll have the problem again next year, and I'll do the...
