I've been in the pool industry for almost 29 years now. Not really sure why I went to school for a higher education considering at the age of 19-20 I already had a good "following" of customers that liked my style (honesty, ethics, and reasonableness) but Mom wanted me in school anyways. No, she didn't pay for it either, lol! During the spring and fall I found myself making the 125 mile trip back to St. Louis 2-4 times a week to open, close, repair and maintain pools. My trusty Nissan and Toyota trucks handled all the extra miles and it was easy to find a extra set of hands for covers and powerwashing in the spring too since I lived in a dorm the first year. After that year guys lined up to "help" since I paid well. BUT, they also knew that things had to be done my way and every customer was important no matter what their zip code or income was. In short, I've built a small empire and have plenty of other BIG (and small) companies call me when they get in a pinch. Primarily leaks and tricky liner situations. My policy has always been "if I don't know the answer, I'll find it so we both know". Both being the customers.
