    Air in my pump

Thanks for the response. The pump basket and lid look good. I cleaned the filter today and checked the drain cap. So far everything looks ok. I tried putting a hose into the filter pump and pushing water through. The pump didn't overflow, the water just kept going through the lines. Is is...

    Air in my pump

A few days ago the Jandy Actuator Valve failed and caused all of the water to be sucked out of the spa and into the pool through the pump. A day passed before I noticed. When I noticed the problem, I quickly refilled the spa and replaced the valve, unfortunately not before a lot of air was...

    a few unrelated questions

I'm new to this as well, but I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. I'm in Vegas and my pool also gets full sun all day. I use ~2ppm/day of FC, not more than 1ppm overnight. I've been adding a half gallon of 10% liquid chlorine every day based on my 35K gallon pool.

    Bleach prices 2013

This is a great post. I've been wondering how the price I paid at Leslie's compared. I paid $7.29 for 2 gallons of 10%. (7.29/2)/(128*0.1)=$0.28/oz = a bit on the higher side I'll check the local HD, Lowes, and Walmart the next time I'm out. Does anyone else in Vegas have a preferred location?

I'm thinking I'll start using liquid chlorine as recommended in pool school and stop using the tablets unless needed while on vacation. Then in the fall I'll drain the...

New Pool Owner in Las Vegas

Thanks for the responses. Here are my test results. FC - 3 pH - 7.9 - I've since added muriatic acid to bring down to 7.5 TA - 90 CH - I don't have this available, but we have very hard water in Vegas CYA - 100 - Do I understand correctly that this is high due to the chlorine tablets I'm using...

New Pool Owner in Las Vegas

Thanks for keeping this great site. I've owned a pool in Las Vegas for 1.5 years and I've decided to start managing it myself. This site has been a great source of information. I've been repeatedly told by everyone from my neighbors to the pool repair guy to the sales person at the pool store...
