    Mustard frustration

Re: Mustard frustration..it's back! Dang. After a few day the mustard started to reappear. FC levels were maintained at shocks levels(34) per pool calculator for 48 hours. FC has not dropped below 6 ppm since. Running out of R-0871 and patience.... :(

    Mustard frustration

Cleared! After a Memorial Weekend battle the mustard algae is gone. Thanks for getting back on right track (shock/TA). Question: at what FC levels on the way down from 34ppm does my Ph test become effective?

    Mustard frustration

Thanks Richard...appreciate your encouragement. Re checked the CYA higher than I thought at 60. So the FC is now at 34, brushed and filter running overnight and through tomorrow. Will keep FC at 34 for 24 hrs. Lights removed and brushed also.

    Mustard frustration

Include me in the ranks of those battling mustard algae, in the shallow.shady end of pool. A couple of years ago I posted about re plaster issues I had with my contractor. Marbling and pitting shortly after the job, it's in this area of the pool I am now fighting mustard for the second seasno...

    New plaster stains

Richard...your right it looks just like my problem. How did you determine it was calcium scaling? And why the heck wouldn't my contractor know that? Good luck with your fix...I'd sure hate to have to take a metal brush to my new plaster. Thanks very much for taking the picture. cal

    New plaster stains

Geek....yes the CH has dramatically increased since re plaster....it is possible the pH has hit 8.0 at times, as I mentioned it has been an ongoing battle to keep it down.... Both you and Richard mentioned scaling...my surface is smooth, wouldn't scaling cause roughness? Also, my...

    New plaster stains

Hey folks....here's my problem and I could use your help. Last April I had my pool re plastered with 100% quartz/sand mix. Not long after we started to notice a stain or mottled pattern showing up on the entire pool surface, not just in localized areas. My water has been perfectly balanced...

    New plaster discolored

I know, pictures would help but not in a position to do that right now...believe me water is perfect. More reading also indicates that over-troweling can cause graying. In fact some of my gray stains are in an arc just like a trowel would make. Other stains are more like mottleling or...

    New plaster discolored

OK doing more reading...sounds like the problem could be "calcium cylicate hydration" causing uneven set rate of plaster??? Way out of my league here...but it sounds impressive and the symptoms are the same as mine...dark modeling and staining of new plaster...

    New plaster discolored

Guys....I had the pool re plastered in March and in June added Borax to 50ppm. Now there is a problem with discolored plaster, it looks like an 8 year old pool....gray blotches and streaks. The tech from the contractor came and checked the water and filter etc. Of course my water is perfect...
