Red "FLOW" light on Intellichlor IC40

I forgot about this thread, but I found out what the problem was and Pentair fixed it under warranty. The pool guy I had used installed a chlorinator (I think that's what those puck tubes are called) before the IC40, in the line leading from the heater. The concentrated chlorine ate the...

White flakes in pool. I think I know what the problem is...

Bama, We've had the pool since September of '08 but I just took over taking care of the pool myself in early May. It started out as SWG, but in May of '09 we noticed the white flakes in the pool. Our pool guy at the time told us to switch to a chlorinator and charged us to put one in. I...

White flakes in pool. I think I know what the problem is...

...from researching the board, but I want to get verification from the experts. Here are results from my TFTkit a couple of days ago: FC= 8.5 CC= .5 pH= 7.8 T/A= 130 CH= 750 (holy mother of god. and I tested it twice to make sure) :( CYA= 70 From reading posts, I'm pretty sure it's a...

Red "FLOW" light on Intellichlor IC40

I called Pentair this morning and managed to get a hold of the same guy who helped me with a problem last year on my pump. They are replacing the flow switch, through a local authorized pool company, on Monday (24-May). I don't think they'll replace the cell....yet. I have until September...

Red "FLOW" light on Intellichlor IC40

Hi, need a little help here. We built a our pool in September of 08, as a salt pool. We have had it maintained by a pool guy until last week, and he was coming out every other week. We had an issue where white flakes came out of the returns (May 2009), and he told us that he needed to come...

Hi all. I turned on the SWCG this morning. I enabled Intellichlor on the EasyTouch. However, as I look on the unit the "FLOW" light is a steady red, and the salt check lights are flashing (actually, scrolling up and down between the three). I know I have to get a salt tester (I'm on my way...

I wish it wasn't raining here or else I would check the SWG right now. Is there any chance that my old pool guy could have disconnected it from the Easy Touch board? If I understand correctly, water's been going through the salt unit since he switched it to a chlorine system, but it doesn't...

Okay thanks DB, my TF100 is on it's way. Should I just leave the tube for the chlorine pucks there? It's the vertical tube just above the SWCG. Okay, stupid question- where do I put the salt? There's a bag in my garage left over from a year ago we switched to chlorine.

On another note, I feel pretty stupid now, saying that now that I know what "IntelliChlor" means. If it was a snake the Dang thing would've bit me.

Thanks, Melt. I took that picture yesterday so it's still there. What would it take for me to switch it back to a SWCG, and is it recommended? Is it something I can do myself?

Thanks for the advice, I will take the pucks out and put some acid in this evening. This may seem like a silly question, how does everyone measure the right amount of muriatic acid going in? Do you put it into a measuring container first or pour directly into the pool? I opened a bottle...

Thanks anonapersona! I've read about draining the pool to lower CYA, and I've really wanted to avoid doing that, but I don't know the first thing about doing that. I'm sure there's a valve I can turn somewhere, no?

Thanks Dave! You assumed correctly, I'm Class of '93. Congratulations to your son! That's awesome! He'll be heading down to fish camp later this summer I assume? I was non-reg in my time in Aggieland, but I've heard more than a few times from some Corps guys I know that he'll go through a...

BTW, I am going BBB as soon as I get my kit. Accounting hesitated at first until I compared the prices for her. Anything I need to do now besides add more acid?
