OK... Before anyone yells at me... I know that the rule of thumb is to dig down to the lowest point. I did that. But now my question is that I would like the bottom of the pool closer to level with the higher side... Can I build up using a base with something like 3/4 processed stone, compact...

Anyone know... when putting down the hard foam insulation... does it need to be level with the bottom rails? I am thinking that when the area is leveled, bottom rail and wall assembled... then the sand is levelled and tamped... you are just above the bottom rail. Adding the insulation will...

I like your water lever... is the one side stationary and you just move the tamper around?

Gwc - did you fit and tape the foam insulation down before you put the wall up? Or after the wall was in place? Also, was the foam even with the bottom rails? Or was the sand even with the bottom rails and then you put the foam down?

I'm not a structural engineer... but I would think that the strips that you are referring to would add to the strength of that seam. Having just the screws in place would only make that seam weaker. Not sure that I'd want to gamble on that...

curious as to how you make out. I was considering using the foam as well... but was concerned about this very issue. Also - when installing the foam on top of the compacted sand... is the top of the foam supposed to be even with the bottom rails? or if the sand is even with the bottom rails...

SuzyAbbott - So I've been reading a little bit about securing the winter cover... and I'm not sure how your pool was gouged. How did you secure the cover that it ended up gouging the top rail? Also, do you find the 24' pool to be big enough? or do you wish you had gone larger - 27'-28'?
