    High level Phosphates Test

I want to test them because I have shocked my pool using the method on this forum, and still couldn't get the FCL up. Plus I have Mustard Algea.

    High level Phosphates Test

Nevermind. I found some info that says you can extend the upper limit of the 1,000 ppb test as follows. By testing 9 parts distilled water and 1 part pool water, then multiplying the results by 10.

    High level Phosphates Test

Anyone know of a phosphates kit that will measure high levels (2,000 - 5000 ppb)?

    Mustard Algae?

Re: The Pool Calculator Thank you for the photo. Unfortunately, the algea depicted looks a lot like mine. What algeacide should I use? I shocked last nigh with the does of calcium hypochlorite recommended by the Pool Calculator. These were my readings before: CYA 55, FCL .2, TCL 3.6...

    Mustard Algae?

Thanks. I followed your directions and got an answer (about 6 lbs). I am wondering if I have Mustard Algea. Do you know where I can see a photo of it? To get rid of it requires an algeacide containing copper, right? (Has anyone tried placing copper tubing in the pool instead?)

    The Pool Calculator

I want to use the calculator to tell me how much shock to add to my pool. I inserted all of the data parameters, and it reads "17." I believe that is the ppm of FC it wants me to raise the level to. Correct? But, I do not see how many pounds of shock I should add to achieve this level.

    Shock

Okay. Thanks. Well, I'm pretty sure that Phosphates are disrupting the ecosystem in my pool, so I hope the Chem I ordered will eliminate them. (They've been building up for 12 years now.)

    Shock

Thanks. Should I shock, or use the Phosphate Remover 1st? Does it matter?

    Ideal Chem Ranges

    Perfect. Thank you.

    Shock

Thank you for the explanation and additional info. I printed the chart. Then, I assume you would recommend that I ignore what I heard about the proper level of shock being enough shock to raise the Chlorine level 10 times the level of the Combined Chlorine? Also, any idea how much shock...

Do I need to buy these at the Pool Store?

Thanks guys. I meant to also ask if CYA, or a substitute was available anyplace else besides a pool store.
