    Polaris Problem - WTH?

More often than not these days, I wake up in the morning to find my Polaris Sweeper in knots....literally (see picture). WTH??? Anyone have any ideas what is causing this to happen over and over - its been 3 days in a row now? Now, I will say the hose itself and all the connections do rotate...

    Constant Algae Battle

Hey folks! With a full "season" under my belt and using the TFP method and testing equipment, I would say I had a very successful summer and have learned quite a bit from the forums and other reading/technical material on this site. But, I do have a nagging question: No matter how hard I hit...

    Irregular Shape

Just wanted to say "thank you" to everyone for their kind remarks. Going through our first season in the pool, we've seen what a great social item it is as there are a number of sitting shelves below the water line where friends hang out and chat away the afternoon without having to be out in...

Just fired my pool service and taking over

Dewayne: Welcome to TFP! I'm a few hours south of you here in the Central Valley and I can feel for the frustration you've encountered. I bought a home with a lovely pool.....but the water - NOT so lovely. As warm weather came on, I had problems with algae and finally figured out that a...

    Calculating Pool Volume

Josh: I understand the challenge of an "odd shaped" pool! I calculated mine in two ways: 1) the amount of time used to flush the pool with a pump that discharged at 60 gpm, and 2) running some averages to calculate volume (a good test of my geometry recall!). In each case I came up with...

    Suffering in MD

Welcome to TFP!!! Gotta tell ya`, I too have had my moments, but, once I got test figures that I could trust (a.k.a. do it myself) I was able to map out a way forward to getting this pool thing under control -- TFP provided that "map"! At first I did not want to believe that the pool store...

Do I NEED a robotic cleaner, or do I WANT one?

Good Question!!! Growing up with a much smaller pool, we did not have a robotic cleaner -- I brushed and vac'd as needed (it was one of my chores around the house).:salut: The pool I have now has one that seems to do a fair job:thumleft:, but I have the equipment for a manual...

    Time to Rant........

Had to laugh to myself here when I read the comments about people's reaction to "bleach" as opposed to "liquid chlorine". Why? Even my wife hit me with "they want you to use WHAT?" So, I told her that instead of using bleach that this site also suggested "liquid chlorine" her reaction was...

Think i may need help soon!

I'm new to this group as well, but have been running free and clear of the pool store for about a month now and have found that what you find here will work! I got my test kit just this past week and found it easy to use. My water is looking good and was in pretty good shape just following...

Just Got My Test Kit - First Numbers

Just took a look at Pool Math and got the same info - thanks for confirming what I got back! Also, thank you for the tip on adding both chemicals. Have a few spots of green showing up so I am thinking that hitting the chlorine harder than Pool Math suggests may not be a bad idea. The pool is...

Another go at BioActive cyanuric acid reduction

Of all the recommendations I got from my local pool store (before going "all in" with TFP), the best I ever got was to "save my money and not even attempt to fix" my earlier CYA problem with this Bioactive product.....even the gal at the store would not recommend it for reducing very high CYA...
