    Combined Chlorine - I'm confused

Something must have been wrong last night. I did a test this morning at 10:30am. Been overcast with no real sun to speak of. Have not run the pump yet today. FC is 11 and CC is zero. Looks like I lost .5ppm of FC overnight. I have been a bit suspect of the stuff you use with the 2 dippers. I...

UGH! Spoke too soon. Just tested at about 10:15pm. FC is 11.5 and CC is back around 3. I don't get it.

    Combined Chlorine - I'm confused

wow. come down to zero? I figured I would have to maintain around 6 according to the CYA chart. The TA and PH have been pretty steady. I have not added anything for those in weeks. Thanks!

    Combined Chlorine - I'm confused

Update: I tested at 1pm with the following results. Calcium - 130 TA - 110 PH - 7.5 FC - 15 CC - 0 CYA - 45 Unless I'm crazy those results are dead perfect. Now, the magic questions. I will test again tomorrow to see how much FC I lose and if the CC is maintained at zero. I believe my maintain...

    Combined Chlorine - I'm confused

Update: added another 260 ounces of bleach at 10:30am. Will let the pump cycle for a while and take a reading in about an hour. Important to note I have NOT had the solar cover on at all this year so far.

    Combined Chlorine - I'm confused

Yup. I am using the Taylor kit. I added so much bleach in an effort to shock. I was just concerned that the CC went up when I added the bleach. I just wanted to make sure that is normal. P.S. A little disappointed in Martin for not giving Jr enough room last race. Could have jumped to second...

    Combined Chlorine - I'm confused

I have been using the BBB method for about 2 1/2 months now. I have the pool pretty well balanced (I think). Pool is DE filter, vinyl liner, 15,000 gallons. Pump turns over the pool in about 5 hours so I run it for 5 hours every day. FC 13 CC 4 TA 100 PH 7.6 CYA 45 So, my CC was 2 this morning...

What did I do? Brownish stains on plastic stairs and jets

Re: What did I do? Brownish stains on plastic stairs and jet Thanks Dave. Should I worry about treating for the stain before bringing up the FC? Although lighter it is still there.

What did I do? Brownish stains on plastic stairs and jets

Re: What did I do? Brownish stains on plastic stairs and jet Added Borax and Baking Soda. Waited 2 hours and tested PH and TA. Got 7.6PH and 80ppm TA. Probably should have added Borax first and retested both.

What did I do? Brownish stains on plastic stairs and jets

Re: What did I do? Brownish stains on plastic stairs and jet The results I posted was from the kit. It was the first time I used a kit like that but I followed all of the directions to the letter.

What did I do? Brownish stains on plastic stairs and jets

Re: What did I do? Brownish stains on plastic stairs and jet FYI, The pool does get direct sunlight for most of the day. I will be putting the solar cover on very soon.

What did I do? Brownish stains on plastic stairs and jets

Re: What did I do? Brownish stains on plastic stairs and jet The water looks crystal clear but takes on a slight rust tint in the deep end. Again, it does seems a lot lighter than 2 weeks ago. That is why I hesitate doing any metal treatment.

What did I do? Brownish stains on plastic stairs and jets

Re: What did I do? Brownish stains on plastic stairs and jet So, I'm not sure if I did this right as it is the first time with the kit. I also have not really put anything in the pool (outside of the Algecide) since I did the big load on opening. 1ppm FC .5ppm CC 6.8 PH 40ppm TA 300ppm Calcium...

What did I do? Brownish stains on plastic stairs and jets

Re: What did I do? Brownish stains on plastic stairs and jet Chalk that one up to impatience. I'll see if I can get a test done later on or tomorrow morning.
